Sorry to hear that. I bet the conversation between you and them is interesting.

Yes. The US remains the most attractive for education. It's universities are top notch. No arguments to be made here. The amount and quality of raw talent that is produced in these universities are just so good.I wonder if many Chinese students still aspire to study in the us? With coronavirus still raging, increasing racism and blatant discrimination against Chinese students and scientists, they should realize that the us is not the promised land anymore
Chinese universities and curriculum are much, much less politicised compared to what passes for american universities and colleges nowadays; to wit, we haven't seen a repeat of the Cultural revolution in China these past few decades and are unlikely to see anything compared to that in the decades to come whereas the US is in the grip of its own cultural revolution and hysteria.China has the potential to replace US as a top education hub. But that involves de-politicizing Chinese University and curriculum. Sort of like SEZ, China has to create Special Educational Zones. Improvements in the quality of life led in Chinese cities and low expenditure of living will draw students.
This is true. If there was a silver lining to Trump's presidency, it would be that Chinese all over the world have woken up to the US's ugly side. Speaking from experience, many chinese I know now realise the US is not the beautiful land of freedom and opportunity, instead a highly divided , racist and immoral society filled with morons. They no longer aspire to move to the US but instead hunker down in asia.In the short term, it did hurt China but in the long run (even right now) it will do far more damage to America then anything that Obama has done prior), what with getting China to be more independent from the USA in terms of technology, making China realise that the USA is untrustworthy (my parents in law worshipped the USA until recently, now they complete wised up) and has done untold damage to the USA economic sector that it is going to be quite impossible to fix (the deficit has going up greatly and the USA dollar is tanking as of now). So all in all, while Pompeo did a lot of things to China, it is certainly ended helping China more in the long run to making them more aware of America’s intentions so that it can be planned for accordingly. So in reality, given that China’s economy is the only one growing right now, Pompeo could ultimately be written of the the man that awoke China up and gave them the drive that I doubt they would get if Obama is still leading. The USA has woke the dragon and now the dragon is watching them burn their own House down while waiting for the perfect opportunity to swallow them
Exactly. As for the US as a top education hub, that is merely perception; american propaganda and marketing is world class so it makes sense that they would manage to convince the world that they possess the best education in the world.
The sooner it blows up in there faces, the better since they have grown too arrogant and too complacent in that the consequence won’t reach them. But still it wouldn’t be long nowI also think the US has overplayed its hand on the Xinjiang genocide fake news. I'm starting to see more and more people point that the people behind it are Adrian Zenz, ASPI and the US state dept.
I wonder how long they can keep up on this before it explodes on them like the Iraq WMD, or if Biden will stop this policy
You'll notice something about these immigrants who moved to america and contributed to the sciences and research- they were all lauded and lionised for their work and accepted as Americans for the simply reason that they were caucasian and white. This follows the unofficial policy of the US to create a pan white 'american' culture with heavy anglo leadership and influence. You're not going to see this level of acceptance, access or lionisation from the hardworking engineering/science PhDs from China or the rest of Asia; oh no, white anglo culture mandates that asian migrants are relegated to lowly tech slave positions with their descendants either becoming bred out and anglicised or genetic dead ends via heavy anti asian male indoctrination in anglo american media.Exactly.
One more thing i would like to add to that, the point i keep making. The post second world era.
It was otto hahn and strassmann that discovered fission.
Teller & ulam made fusion possible.
Now it is now Musk who is giving them best space exploration method.
Ironically, none of them are exactly "american" , Yet US is the one taking all the advantages. People often forget the destruction left behind WW2 created series of chain reaction including industrial revolution, which US took full advantage of, because their infrastructure remained intact.
Power of money is amazing.
The thing is, it works in both ways. Hence, the "fair open" market policy, of course, with little twist of "national security",like we saw what happened to Japan's IC sector..
