Republicans need another tea party movement to energize their base in the next few years. However, this time would be much more bipartisan, racist, ugly, and danger. Last time, they hide behind fiscal conservatives but this time they might be out in the open.

I am not so sure Republican party wouldn't double down for their next election. Many Republicans would use the same playbook as Trump and ousted moderate Republican politicians. They could also bank on the fact that Cuban Americans would help them deliver Florida and White undereducated blue collars would help them win Ohio. Remember Trump is getting more votes from Black and Hispanic males than 4 years ago.

When will Tsai Yinwen do it?

She won't as she has ran off with him.

I think it is the other way around. The "Karen's" or "Proud Boys" of the world will go back to the wood and hided. In the last four years, these people were enable by the President to come out and hate.

Oh I hope not. Yes I agree that these Karen's and militia men were "encourage" and embolden by Trump. But there attitudes were always there, it just needed Trump to brings it out.

However, now the genie is out of the bottle, it's going to be hard to put it back in again. The militia men might go back to the woods, but the Karen's and Kens' are going to continue to be disobedient amid the covid 19 crisis. And that's all it's needed to focus Biden's time. Time enough for China to grow and rise peacefully.

Trump brought in an echo chamber of hard core (possibly racist, ultra nationalist) anti-china advisors in many key positions. Also covid19 probably brought huge loses to Trump's hospitality and office space businesses. Biden is most likely have a more moderate advisors. The downside for China is that Biden may be able to get some alliances against some of China's policy, but trump has change the atmosphere where its doubtful too many country outside of the "usual" suspects will go along.

I think China has more time to become more self sufficent with a Biden presidency as with Trump, who knows if he would try to do something extreme like ban all exports of advance cpu to Chinese companies etc.

Thank God that Mike Pompeo and Peter Navarro and Matt Pottinger is getting the boot. They are ruthless brutish savages in arm-twisting US allies to ban 5G Huawei and forcing them to take clear sides in US-China rivalry in typical Mafia-style fashion. Biden's moderate picks will appeal to "democracy values and brotherhood" which can be countered by lucrative market opportunities in Chinese market. Pompeo will appeal to mafia-style extortion or "withdrawal of US bases/weapons" which is pretty hard for China to counter-act.

I personally think China just needs to grow, grow, grow. Mike Pompeo arm-twisting US allies to de-couple isn't good, Biden won't force US allies to de-couple, but do some 3D chess move that China can simply counter by employing some soft power and just grow, grow, and outgrow the US.

"democracy values and brotherhood"
Outside of North America and West Europe, they don't really stick, at least if your economy is at the stake. East Asia might be more democracy than not but they don't really has this virtue signalling, forget South East Asia, Africa and South America.

That maybe so but I am not sure that the replacement is more friendly toward China Biden will bring ex Obama china hand like Kurt Campbell and Ely Ratner who is rabid anti China But maybe Susan Thornton or Rice is more moderate Depend who he choose. Michelle Flournoy want to destroy Chinese navy within 72 hr of the start of hostilities. she is defence secretary designate

She already congratulates Biden. If the FLG folks know what’s good for them they’d better drop their Biden bashing rhetoric soon.

China should assume Pompeo and co will be back in 25,therefore she should make the most of the next 4yrs.

This is EXACTLY my sentiment.

Even if Biden releases a tiny bit of pressure on China, this is good. This 4 year reprieve matters a lot since China is still growing. Time is on China's side, so if China can buy more time until a Trump 2.0 (minus the twitter fingers, but same right-wing populism) comes onboard in 2024 or 2028, then China has a far stronger and sustainable economy by then.
