IF anything, i regard this as a good sign, it's already been year and the best the Five Eyes have been able to do is make pathetic mewling performative acts of 'solidarity', for eg europe and america will talk up a good storm over supporting australia but will gladly take australian market share in wine and beef in China. Basically, against China's rise the Anglosphere is impotent and given COVID, are now more dependant on Chinese factories to keep inflation at bay.

However, regarding japan's backstabbing of China ie whilst maintaining close economic links with china, the japanese conspicuously work with the anglos against Chinese interests; if anything, the Japanese require a sharp lesson similar to that enacted on vietnam 40 years ago
Oh sooner or later Japan is going to get there’s, as if China has forgotten about WW2 and has always been showing a tone of Chinese drama highlighting the fact even until now so that when the day comes that China has decided that enough is enough, the whole Chinese nation will be backing the government when they have all the preparations ready to wreck the shit out of Japan and anyone dumb enough to show solidarity with those unapologetic bastards. The one thing about China being able to stand alone against so many nations is that it made China so strong as a nation that the moment that the USA is out of commission for just a little bit,China is going to begin collecting the assets of these people and will put their enemies away for good. Sadly enough, patience is the key when dealing with all the unknowns and their real backers, but when the day comes that their backers are suck figurative and literally, China is going to demonstrate quite throughly what happens when China brings its extreme cruelty (in the ancient times when dealing with their enemies that is) into the modern age and especially when they have been pushed far enough and no, the Japanese better not consider Ghost of Tsushima as an example of the Japanese being able to fight back because you can be sure that China has already seen that too and knows how to fix that crap.

When are they going to realize that China is not God and can’t fill a hole this big???

They might not think China is God, but they sure seem to believe China is the Devil!

What’s there to talk about?

the Americans have their list, given to Sherman by the Chinese; unless there’s movement on that front, Yellen’s probably ticking off China on her bucket list before she croaks

I don't think US can afford to decouple with China with the $5 Trillion in stimulus spending on COVID response alone.

China is one of the biggest creditors and biggest trading nation in USD as far as trade surplus goes..... US needs China for some large treasury debt purchase and can't completely decouple.

It looks as if America is desperate for some kind of meeting with China. All the time their MSM is harping on about how China is desperate to meet. Lol

This just show how sxxty Blinken has been with his diplomatic skills. China refuses to meet with him so they send their No. 2 Wilson, and now their appointee Jellen.

Haven't they learned anything? China is happy to meet and gave dialogues on equal footing. Not one from the "position of strength" .
China can’t fill a hole this big. No one can.

No that hole can't be filled. But the U.S. are not looking to fill the hole, they are looking to patch up the walls to stop it collapsing altogether.

Least we forget. The covid alone took a big chunk out of the U.S. economy. Despite certain uninformed member keep telling us in the American economic thread. Don't forget this is lost oitput for good!

So they're trying another approach. It just shows you how desperately they are trying.

They should call it "The No, I really mean it this time" strategic dialogue.

One of these days, this idiot is going to suffer, physically from all of this flip flopping. The only thing stopping China from wiping this old fart is the USA and the fact that China doesn't want cause real harm to other nations like the USA is doing for so long and even that is starting to be tested due to the amount of none stop harassment that the USA seems to enjoy flinging at China, just because China simply told America to stop talking down on China all the time. One must wonder when China finally decides to take the real kid gloves off, how badly are the Americans going to suffer as a result

The expectation is:
China alone for sure can't fill the hole. But if (and only if) China agrees to help US, it will trigger other major countries to follow suit. China's response will be interested to watch. It's not about trust but benefits as the Chinese knows well what Gatekeeper said "white men speak with forked tongue".

As for Janet Yellen's planned visit, in my opinion it's important to pave the way for Xi to meet Biden considering her background ... If I remember correctly I once read or heard to take a close look at the manner Mao received Nixon and Kissinger back then in Beijing - the difference how he shook hands with both of them - correct me if I'm wrong, Chinese and US "deep states" must have known each other very well and it's beyond our knowledge or the known unknown in our parlance.

I do hope the Chinese side will be more aggressive in emphasizing its own interests mimicking US' stick-and-carrot approach with Chinese characteristics. The repetitive diplomatic language full of symbolism and passive reciprocation supported only with assertive wolf warriors will only tantalize western powers to poke here there and everywhere more and more as per their wits. Sooner or later China will fall prey to their games due to psychological fatigues of these warriors.

Isn't this typical of Biden (well all US) adminstration. On the one hand they are desperate for a meeting with China, to get assistant from China with their economic woos.

Whilst very under handily playing the Taiwan card once again through congress. (Like the infamous Taiwan relations act. They hide behind that all the time saying they are oblige to support Taiwan.. ... blah blah blah).

To be honest, US already fought China before in Korean and Vietnam Wars, basically abandoned Taiwan, and even normalized relations and significant trade.

I don't think it will get back to Cold War 2.0 level, but just like we Hong Kongers take time to realize our true new masters, the Americans will jostle and make noise because egoism is tough to swallow and change is hard. Americans will one day realize China is the World Leader and it must accomodate or go to war (which it knows it won't win), so begrudgingly accept it as given.

All China needs to do is grow and focus on itself. US can do nothing to stop it's peaceful rise. (And Taiwan is part of China!)

The same thing is at play here. The US is whining about how China is nitpicky on who meets with Austin and Biden hypocritically plays that game waiting until he's met with every other world leader before Xi. But then Biden is worried and it has been emphasized by the US that they don't want China to have misinterpreted what the US is doing hence why they're desperate for an eventual Biden meeting with Xi. In other words the US is being two-faced, one for the domestic audience and the other for the real world, and they know it.

Indeed, as I said before, this is about managing the decline of the US. A lot of things that the US does today in its foreign policy are pretty stupid and will harm its own self-interest. But the US simply does them out of either pride or spite. You can't even reason with them with win-win solutions or even zero-sum game, since sometimes it simply wants to play with lose-lose games - doesn't even matter who loses more as long as the other side loses.

That's what over two decades of unipolar moment have done to you mentally and psychologically.
