They lost in Hong Kong and Tibet. They are losing in Xinjiang too. As disgusting as it would sound China needs to retaliate against such attempts by India and the US. China should allow the production of fentanyl again.
I won't go that route The best revenge is living to the fullest meaning China that is getting richer, stronger and more technically leading, orderly ,safe, more green etc

The Economist essentially agrees with the goal of Biden's China doctrine, aka containment, but wants him to do it in the old neo-liberal way, that is, the US way before Trump.

.

The old neo-Liberal way of opening up China, then expecting China to change while it integrated with the world economy, primarily the west, that is accepted to be a complete failure.

Then President Trump came along and did it his way, which is to be as hostile as possible without resorting to war. In a way, what Trump did was even a bigger failure because it exposed American limits, that their power was not enough, that just shows weakness.

So now, since Trump failed with China going at it alone, the Biden people go running proclaiming they along with the allies are still the big boss, nothing more than the street thug taunting his rivals that his gang is bigger, when his gang may not necessarily have his back.

In the eyes of the CCP, we have to expect they view the Biden people as powerful, as this is still the United States, but they could view the Biden people as just little jokers.

Now what? What is the next move?

I read that they will try to have some sort of digital trade agreement in Asia that is American lead. Whatever that is suppose to mean.

China refused to allow Sherman to meet with her counterpart in China. So the US is cancelling the trip. Do these people think they could insult China and still demand a meeting with Xi or someone close to Xi.

China snubs senior US official in worsening diplomatic stand-off

Beijing has snubbed the US by refusing to grant Wendy Sherman, deputy secretary of state, a meeting with her counterpart during a proposed visit to China that would have been the first top-level engagement since acrimonious talks in Alaska.

The US halted plans for Sherman to travel to Tianjin after China refused to agree to a meeting with Le Yucheng, her counterpart, according to four people familiar with the decision. China offered a meeting with Xie Feng, the number five foreign ministry official who is responsible for US affairs.

The Biden administration had been negotiating what would have been the first high-level engagement since their first meeting in Alaska, which erupted into a public spat between Antony Blinken, US secretary of state, and Yang Jiechi, the top Chinese foreign policy official. While the state department had not said Sherman would travel to China, she had planned to visit after a trip to Japan, South Korea and Mongolia. The Chinese snub follows a similar stand-off between the two countries’ militaries. China earlier this year rebuffed several requests for Lloyd Austin, US defence secretary, to meet General Xu Qiliang, China’s most senior military official. But China refused to engage, after previously offering a meeting with the defence minister, who is less senior in its system.

Evan Medeiros, a China expert at Georgetown University, said China was “playing games” since the history of diplomatic meetings made clear Sherman should be meeting with Le, the number two foreign ministry official. “China’s move is a dangerous one. It increases distrust, tension and the risk of miscalculation during an already fraught period,” Medeiros said. China had originally suggested that Sherman could also hold a videocall with Wang Yi, the Chinese foreign minister, during her visit to Tianjin.

Last month Kurt Campbell, the top White House Asia official, said the US was frustrated that China refused to arrange meetings with officials who are close to Xi Jinping. He said even Yang and Wang were “nowhere near within a hundred miles” of the Chinese president’s inner circle of trusted advisers.
The stand-off comes four months after the Alaska meeting, which also ended on an acrimonious note. At the end of the two-day meeting, Yang told Blinken in private that he would welcome a follow-on meeting in China, to which the secretary of state said “thank you”. When Yang asked if that meant he would visit, Blinken responded “thank you means thank you” in a clear indication that the US was not prepared to hold another meeting that angered China. “Perhaps they are trying to punish the US for insufficient respect in Anchorage,” said Bonnie Glaser, a China expert at the German Marshall Fund. “Or maybe Beijing is simply testing the Biden administration, and will eventually propose a higher level ministry of foreign affairs official and the visit could be added to Sherman’s itinerary.”

All the reactions are delusional in nature.

The most fundamental issue here is :

When you keep tossing sanctions after sanctions, slandering China, and directly subverting their sovereignty by trying to manage HK and promote separatism in TW island. What is there to talk about ? US is the one threatening China on everything, and somehow China is the one having to attend a meeting to compromise ?

What is there to compromise on when China can very well see the intent of your actions ?

Fully support the decision not to meet with the US. This person was a nobody to begin with. If there is going to a meeting with substance, then we can meet. Otherwise dont waste china's time and just lob another round of sanctions. We dont want to waste a coffee and hotel rooms if nothing will come of this.

There was much ado in the US media prior to the Alaska meeting about how China was supposedly the one to seek the meeting, therefore showing weakness in China's position.

Now the US is chasing after China for a meeting and China is rejecting every overture.

The only way for US-China relations to improve is for the US to realize that it has no hope of stopping China from doing what it wishes to do, and I think the only way that realization will happen is when China completes armed reunification. That would shatter any lingering illusions about the US dealing with China "from a position of strength".

Yes the business climate created by the US in the first place. When the US government has to encourage US businesses not to business in Hong Kong it's because ordering them would mean China will retaliate and then hit the US hard. Why not just end relations with China? If China has ruined Hong Kong's reputation then those businesses will naturally not do business with Hong Kong. No encouragement needed.

They want China’s money without doing anything, that is all because of their endless greed and their inability to solve anything without throwing sanctions everyone their is a problem. It’s not China’s fault that the USA is becoming less and less of a nation to do business in and more and more of a nation that needs to be sanctioned into the ground. The USA can dish out a lot to the world but the moment someone hits back, they cry like pusses that quite frankly needs to get beaten down harder for not behaving in a manner that a real sovereign nation should.
