The CEO of Kaspersky Lab Eugene Kaspersky wrote this piece for Fortune himself:
Why Hacking Kaspersky Lab Was A Silly Thing To Do
While he didn't name names - we all know who it is with such budget and sophiscation.
As in the BBC reporting:
"This highly sophisticated attack used up to
three zero-day [previously unknown] exploits,
which is very impressive - the costs must have been very high," commented Costin Raiu, director of Kaspersky Lab's global research and analysis team."
In their own blog they give more information:
Kaspersky Lab investigates hacker attack on its own network
Specifically, they name it
Duqu 2.0
And said about this :
Some of the new 2014-2015 Duqu infections are linked to the events and venues related to the negotiations with Iran about a nuclear deal. The threat actor behind Duqu appears to have launched attacks at the venues for some of these high level talks.
"Governments attacking IT security companies is simply outrageous."
If you remember the previous detailing of Duqu's inner working and its creator which is linked to the "Equation group" with history of high level of sophiscation and their very very specific targets (Iran specifically) and Obama's own admission of guilty that they used cyber weapons against Iran, it is more than abundently clear US government (specifically - NSA's Equation Group) is behind this.
Scroll back a few pages I think I have links to history Equation group and the analysis of their attack.
