I saw a rumor earlier that the news would come out on the 7th. It’s unconfirmed, of course, but it did turn out to be right that nothing has been announced today (so far).
That’s not news, it’s history. A short documentary on recent history.

I’m just hoping that they’re not getting more over the top with this stuff, and that it’s due to the 09-IIIB severely slowing down the OPSEC video editing and review process.

At this point we know that the pennant number has been painted, some sort of ceremony has taken place - the rest just seems to be a hankering for formality and potentially better pictures. No point in getting agitated over this now I think. The announcement and pictures will come when they come, we know the status regardless.

Over enthusiastic, feeling entitled, fanboysism...

PLAN does not owe anyone to be obliged to anyone's demand. They commissioned Liaoning, Shandong, the type 055s and most of the type 075 without the huge publicities.

A ship does not get its pennant number before commission in PLAN tradition. They may have painted the number before the commissioning ceremony but that number has to be covered by a canvas. If the number is no more covered, than it is comissioned, regardless if CCTV reports it or not, or lack of public statement from PLAN.

Strictly speaking as a fanboy, but rather than this shitshow, you'd think they'd do a better PR job considering Fujian is the biggest, most advanced, most powerful warship and carrier China built to date, and is the most advanced and powerful carrier ever built in the world apart from the american supercarriers.
