guess we'll have to content ourselves with five destroyers coming out of just one dock in Dalian while the US in its entirety can barely put together a couple of destroyers in a year. Aw-shucks, can't win 'em all.
What? Currently the US is building 10 type III Arliegh Burke class DDGs;

John Basilone (DDG 122), under construction
Harvey C. Barnum, Jr. (DDG 124), under construction
Jack H. Lucas (DDG 125), under construction
Louis H. Wilson Jr. (DDG 126), under construction
Patrick Gallagher (DDG 127), under construction
Ted Stevens (DDG 128), under construction
Jeremiah Denton (DDG 129), under construction
William Charette (DDG 130), under construction
George M. Neal (DDG 131), under construction
Quentin Walsh (DDG 132), under construction
Sam Nunn (DDG 133), under construction

Honestly I don't know how many will be commissioned this year.

The difference is that not all of those vessels are in advanced stages of construction (and certainly not having five in such a stage at one single shipyard), but rather in various stages of module assembly as well as steel cutting.

It's not an exaggeration to say that Chinese surface combatant (destroyer, frigate) construction capacity in their naval shipyards is something that meaningfully exceeds the US and has been the case for a while.

The measure for this is not "number of destroyers/frigates under any stage of construction/fabrication at any one time" (because that is not something we know for China) but rather "annual launch rate" which is easily discernable and measurable.

That said this is also off topic so better suited for a different thread if you want to continue talking about it in any form.

Thank you Blitzo. I have a question about CV-18..does anyone have any idea when the ship will go to sea to start fully testing all the ships systems including EMALS? Anyone have a clue? Thank you.

It's possible that it will start sea trials late this year.

As for when all of its systems will be tested (including EM catapult) for the first time, we don't know but chances are it will proceed in a normal way that various systems will be tested with subsequent sea trials prior to handover and commissioning in a few years time.

Chances are we won't know when various specific milestones are achieved until well after the fact.

This is Deino's guesstimate:
o_O stupid me! Like my professor in mathematics once always said: Calculating with numbers is always the hardest.

Now it should fit to the 76th anniversary
