Does anyone know what the shoulder garment (the red cloth) on the right-hand anime figure is called? Is a historical Chinese military garment?
What is the context of this? I've watched Evangelion but I don't remember this scene? Is this a Chinese carrier with Chinese planes, under the UN banner?
Just about all I remember about China's involvement in Evangelion was that they had one of the 5 Magi supercomputers, and built several of those automated Units that ended up fighting Asuka with mimicked "red Spears".
It's from the original TV show. In that episode Unit 02 was delivered from Germany onboard what appears to be a Nimitz class, only instead of F/A-18 the carrier was full of what looks to be CATOBAR Su-33.
Thus Fujian being CATOBAR and J-15T being a CATOBAR flanker will probably be the closest we ever get to that scene in real life. Curiously Yankee notes that the Su-33 depicted in the show had a front landing gear bay door that looks unlike Su-33 and very similarly to J-15T's door.

Note the protruding shape of the front landing gear door as suggested by highlight and shadowing. Now compare that to:

J-15T (before it got the double door treatment):
Notice how J-15T's door has a much more pronounced bulge due to the beefier CATOBAR landing gear. It closely match the (presumably CATOBAR) Su-33 in Evangelion.
Shilao was like how do you know that's CATOBAR Su-33 and not J-15T under UN command and colour? What if in that world in some other part of the globe is UNS Fujian with a ship full of F/A-18?
