Am I seeing this wrong or did they add windowed segments on the stern of the island? It looks odd.

isn't it the stern of 003 at the left side, including the island

Its certainly the island visible there alright. Type 003 of course sits in the forward part of the dry dock, the separate rear area is continuously used for other builds incl civilian, like cargo hull modules.
