One would think it to be an awe inspiring demonstration of amazing 23rd century antigravity technology to sail a carrier onto land, by mistake or design.

India could use some limited version of antigravity technology like that, when its new warship started to roll Over and capsize in its dry dock.

How useful is the mock-up for planning the new carrier? I thought the island has been moved back a fair distance so even if they modified the island of the mock-up the overall layout and perspective from the bridges would still be different?

It's more to do with exploring and developing operating procedures and theories than anything especially specific to any one carrier.

The mockup is for testing sensor integration, to ensure the various emitters don't interfere with each other, and to verify their performance.

So we could expect the structure to be modified further again for testing out type 004 configuration? Does this mean the 004 design has not been finalized yet, unless they decide to do the testing somewhere else.
