Kennedy is a good example, because it was planned as a nuclear carrier and redesigned conventionally.Compare the island of the nuclear USS Nimitz in its original 1977 configuration, to that of the conventional USS Kennedy, which immediately preceded the Nimitz and was otherwise very similar to the Nimitz but for the conventional oil fired power plant.

Btw, that is IJN carrier Kaga, not the Akagi. Akagi’s exhaust was never carried to the stern like those on the Kaga. AFAIK, Kaga is unique amongst all of the world’s carriers in trunking the boiler smoke uptake all the way to the stern.View attachment 69866
But there is also the possibility that you can designed a conventionally-powered carrier's exhaust akin the that of IJN carrier Akagi, so the island can be small enough to reduce RCS.
A little aside, but it was also a failed experiment the Imperial Japanese Navy never did again. It made life below decks hell for her crews. Kaga would eventually have her exhaust moved during one of her refits.Btw, that is IJN carrier Kaga, not the Akagi. Akagi’s exhaust was never carried to the stern like those on the Kaga. Minnie Chan and SCMP ain't the reliable source of Chinese military news: while SCMP is known, at best, just regurgitate anything and everything that we've debated to death weeks before, Minnie Chan is one infamous for writing fake news, most likely what she gleaned from Chinese BBS sites. Sure many of us here doing the same (even CJDBY acknowledged that, if not mused us as spies at times), but unlike us who'd know what's fake and what's real, Minnie Chan seems to either sorely lack of such quality (which is a demerit for journalist) or she's just there to hunt saucy stories and burp out fake and China-bashing articles to get her pay.
As for Pinkov...years ago he was exposed as a fraud when he bite a bait, all "hook, line, and sinker" on how he did fake news. In any regard, the only thing he could sell is his "Russian connection" but in at late as the last decade China's development made his connections ever more less relevant. And Kanwa is pulling its commercial circulation at the end of this year, perhaps an indication of its failings?
Proves once more to deal with chatelain, either you put one into a hole that you make him dug for himself, or throw him into somewhere like Ognenny Ostrov and toss away the key...
