There are lots of F18 out here. Potentially there could be over 300 of F18 gathered at one time at SCS. Probably no way to match that 300, but how about match half of that which is 150. Right now China has about 24 j15s. World wide US has close to 1000 F18s. Think about it for a second...
I don't think China can produce nearly enough j15 therefore cheaper and faster produced navalized planes needed.

China has other land base aircrafts they would use if an opponent came knocking at the door of China. Currently the 2 stobar carriers can carry 60 aircrafts combine. 24 old j-15 + 20 new j-15 = 44 aircrafts by sometime 2021.

The escorts aren’t nuclear powered
The escorts already in the area.

For a war effort lasting longer than a day you need two or better three aircraft carriers (because an aircraft carrier can not fight the whole day, it needs a break), but the escort ships only once.

It's not very viable solution to send that many land based aircraft to far away spratley island area.

I think, this 40 to 50 pilots are intended as experienced squadron leaders or instructors. China has yet no "normal" pilots because China has no CATOBAR carrier in service.

I didn't count the first 6 certified carrier pilots because they become instructor, administrator, manager like Dai Min Ming who is the first pilot landed on Liaoning, is now the chief of air wing. You don't need 40 instructors Stobar can be used organic air support for the fleet! You don't need catobar to do that.
China pilot output is roughly 6 or 7 pilot per year. I guess by the end of the year the first batch III of J15 should show up

If production capability of j10C versus j15 is 2:1 or 3:1 I would still take j10C. There is no replacement for hard numbers.
Still worthwhile to invest in navalized third gen fighters because you can't use stealth fighters all the time. Even for future carriers third gen fighters still needed.

You won't achieve those production numbers. Production will be slower and more expensive because you're converting a land fighter to naval. The current J-10 has high production numbers because it has achieved economy of scale; the Chinese industry and military are very familiar with the type; and it's been thoroughly tested. You won't have any that with a naval conversion.

More interested in navalized j10c or jf17 in sufficiently large quantity for new carriers.

Single engine fighter is not suitable for naval air wing for the simple fact they have to fly long distance over water. And if anything, happened to the engine you will be gone there is no spare engine that allow you to get back to the AC.
Another thing you need long reach and can carry a lot of missile, etc. Single engine is limited in reach and MTO
So, nobody uses single engine fighter for naval aviation!
