J15 is unlikely to be able to carry yj12. PLAN really needs a modern 1000 kg antiship missile. Yj91, if it has an antiship variant, might come handy as a temporary measure, but it's a bit too small.

They already have that in the form of the Yj-83, but it is no better then the Harpoon in terms of performance. There has been twitter images of J-15 models with the YJ-12. How true is that will have to be seen, but if not, then the PLAN will have to go back to the drawing board for a purposed built Ashm for the J-15.

If all that we heard about the Type 002 is true, then when the ship is floated out some time in the next decade. China will have the distinction of being the 3rd nation in the world to have built and operated a catapult carrier all on its own. And it will be the 2nd most powerful navy in terms of carrier aviation overall, besting France, the UK, Brazil and India in terms of their respective carrier size, technology and numbers.
With a catapult carrier, the PLAN will have a whole array of options they can bring to bear against an opposing force. A flight of J-15 with full fuel load and YJ-12As will be the stuff of nightmares for any admiral.
All in all, an incredibly significant milestone for the PLAN.
Well, in that time frame is is likely that the Indians will be launching their CATOBAR carrier too.

They will then have two STOBAR carriers and a CATBAR carrier like China.

We shall see if it happens...and the Indians have a bad record...however, they have something close to ten years to get it done and their plan is to have three carrier like this. ANd like I tell people about china...do not underestimate them...I also say about India...do not underestimate them.

...and they are working with the US for help, particularly on the 3rd carrier.

In that time frame, France may or may not have a second carrier. The UK will have both of its carriers. I would equate France and England to the PLAN since they are part of a military alliance together with other countries.

But, the PLAN does not intend to stop at three. I believe we shall see them ultimately with five or six carriers and as soon as the get their fourth, they will indeed be in a position that no other modern nation, outside the US, has attained since the wind down from World War II when England decommissioned its carrier fleet during the 1950s.

Well if India wishes to make that happen, then they better make a move fast. Seeing as the Type 002 has started construction already, whereas India is still stuck with the Vikrant not being commission after near 10 years. Not that I am underestimating but India has a certain bad track record of securing foreign assistance for their military. Their bureaucracy has sunked more joint ventures in red tape then I care count.
As for France and the UK, it needs to be seen what kind of carrier that France will intend to procure, if it is of the same design and make as the Charles De Gaulle, it would lag behind the Type 002 which will ostensibly displace more than twice the weight as well as having double the catapult systems for launching planes.
And I am viewing UK and France as being separate here as carriers are also used in terms of independent power projection. Both the UK and France has their own priorities of which military alliances do not touch upon.

That's way too optimistic to me.

CV-18 has a chance of being commissioned earlier than India's second carrier. CV-19 is almost certain to be commissioned earlier than India's third one.

If they want their third one to be nuclear powered, then hold your breath...I think China's CVN will come out first, that would be her 5th one!

Counting on foreign help can be a disguised curse... especially for things like modern aircraft carrier.
