I am referring to the mockup on the Vikrant. A mock up must at least look real. When undergoing training our brain forms images which are very close to the object we are training with. These images will allow for quick and precise responses in actual scenarios.But still enough to train for elevator use, hangar placement and movement of plane on the deck.
I would suggest that a transparent mockup is detrimental to good practice of movement on deck. Crews trained on a transparent mockup will not have to communicate about what is on the other side of the mockup (because they can see through the mockup), which reduces the efficacy of the training: a big challenge for carrier deck operations is the combination of restricted visibility and tight space.But still enough to train for elevator use, hangar placement and movement of plane on the deck.
