Good question. I honestly do not know what the PLAN Carrier Strike Group (CSG) will look like. However I do know what a USN CSG looks like.

1 CVN with a full air wing
1-2 SSN
1 Cruiser..don't know how long this will last. the USN is retiring ALL cruisers
3-4 DDGs..this number will increase as Cruisers are retired

Will cruiser replacement just be another extra DDG?

Yes, the Arleigh Burke Flight III are explicitly build as Ticonderoga replacement and are commanded by an O-6 instead of an O-5 for that reason.

Does that mean flight 3 dont replace 2a, but replace tico instead? Or we all getting flight 3 from now on. All ddg commanders are O6 now on.

The Flight III are not replacing Flight IIA, they work in conjunction. The very first Burkes also have yet to go out of service. USN will keep getting Flt III until a new (DDGX) design follows, but the exact dynamics have yet to be resolved. USN retains O5 (commander) rank for DDGs, the Flt III will fill the cruiser role in CSGs etc. Anyway, thats all going very much OT here now, so will leave it at that.
