T thik you could arguably say that they have already reached that point in terms of pure equipment.Looks great, and when it happens, China will have the second best navy in the Indo-Pacific.
Equipment, maybe, but the Japanese Navy has better training and it will take a generation or more for China to catch up. In the Indian Ocean, the India Navy has several generations of deck aviation experience over China Navy, and IN carrier aviation has been tested in wars.T thik you could arguably say that they have already reached that point in terms of pure equipment.

LOL Training. Let him have this one. He's gotta have something to say. If you take this away from him somehow, his next one's gonna be, "God is on USA/Japan's side." LOLI just love how the nay sayer keep harping on "training" when confronted with the fact that materially Chinese navy is now as good as Japan and getting better all the time .
Knowing well that "training" is a subjective quantity and even more absurd calling India has experience in war. I don't know how old you are Seem like you never know India China war in 62.
Quantity has a quality all its own. Regardless, IMO by 2020 a pure naval total force on force confrontation between the PLAN and JMSDF (e.g. over the DYT islands) would see an easy PLAN victory. Add PLAAF and PLANAF (and JASDF) and the result would be the utter destruction of both the JMSDF and JASDF in short order.Equipment, maybe, but the Japanese Navy has better training and it will take a generation or more for China to catch up.
One diminutive carrier with a self defense suite that is literally worse than that of a Type 054A frigate does not make the IN the equal of the PLAN.In the Indian Ocean, the India Navy has several generations of deck aviation experience over China Navy, and IN carrier aviation has been tested in wars.
Let's not get into direct Sino vs Japan scenarios. The rules forbid it.Quantity has a quality all its own. I know this...the JMSDF is very squared away and have very good training, exercises, and equipment.
I know for a fact that the PLAN does not underestimate them and would not under any circumstance now, or in the next numerous years, consider a hands down defeat of them or the JASDF a fait accomplai.

Training with foreign navies could offset hardware advantages that the PLAN has? We are comparing capabilities of individual navies, not how well they operate with other navies. Also, India's experience with carriers translates into proficiency with carriers, not a superior navy in general.Actually, your response doesn't address Blackstone's question of training and combat experience. China may lead both Japan and India technologically & quantitatively now or in the future, but that won't make up for India's very extensive lead in carrier operations (not just in training, but also during war). IN and JMSDF both have exposure to training with foreign navies. That could make a huge difference in a conflict and could easily offset whatever hardware-pertinent advantage the PLAN has.
