Those skid marks would be nice evidence that the Chinese are still very confident about the J-15. Just imagine the Chinese keep landing a fundamentally flawed plane on their precious new carrier... Risking damaging their new carrier even before commissioning? That would make no sense...
Whatever is happening to the J-15’s must be an upgrade.

The built 24 aircraft are used intensively until there is a successor.

They use only 8 at once on the carrier, so it is an easy game for ground crews.
Aircraft with a large lift area (ratio) are an easy game for pilots, too. Accidents and minor occurrencies expected less often.
The J-15 is ideal for beginners.
