All quite possible. The Z-18F, that's been around since 2014 and has equipped the Liaoning for a while.

The 36 number comes from CCTV news, not from those talk shows. Short of coming from the mouth of DoD spokesman, this is quite official.

But that 10m longer claim, don't know where that comes from. I doubt it.

I believe what CCTV said.

CCTV news channel had explicitly stated that domestically-built aircraft carrier ( type 002 in SDF designation ) can house 36 J-15s, and made a reference to Liaoning's capacity of housing 24 J-15s.

Anything else are pure speculations.

Seems indeed as if she's preparing for yet another cruise ... reported by @HenriKenhmann/EastPendulum, the Type 002 carrier will eventually leave Dalian for its 8th and final sortie on 28. August to 3. September and most observers expect it soon thereafter to be handed over to the PLAN.
