‘No..that is a barracks ship with full emininites.’

I though that said “a barrack ship full of commies”

Why are the crew housed in a barrack ship rather than facilities on shore? The same amenities on shore would cost far less. If the crew needs to move to different bases it would still likely be cheaper to have duplicate land based amenities on shore and shuttle the crew on military or commercial aircraft.

Why would land-based facilities + commercial aircraft tickets for thousands of people being any cheaper than a cruiser like hotel ship? With such a ship, the sailors and pilots live right next to their weapon. This is like they live in the navy base of the CV's home port in the future. Dalian shipyard where the two CVs frequently visit is not navy base and there is no cheap housing near Dalian city for the navy. Think about USN providing accommodations for thousands of people in downtown New York city if their CVNs dock at New York harbor as frequent as these two CVs.

Could you develop more about this?
I don't know if there is any meaningful different arrangement between 88 and 89, but I think the two are paired with their CVs because they are barracks. You don't move around your stuff for no apparent benefit. Think about an army solider has a fixed bed and closet in a barrack house, all his personal stuff is locked in the closet, there is no reason to move every few months to another room in the same base.

I believe every navy in the world that can afford it has ships like that... Nothing special about it.

More than likely true. However these days the USN uses barracks on base when the ship is in port for extended periods of time. They've even built barracks for sea-duty sailors.

My grandson, poopeye, is living in a barracks at Naval Base Kitsap in Bremerton Wa while his ship, Nimitz , is in the shipyard at Bremerton WA until next May.

In my day we had to remain aboard the ship..no matter what...

88 is paired with 16 Liaoning, 89 is paired with the 2nd carrier. Why should they change this? I believe, the accomodation ships have installations especialy configured for and connected with their parent ships.

I did check the pictures. It was 88 that moved to the Type 055 area when the two Type 055s were launched, and the ship stayed there as two Type 052Ds left the fitting area for possible trials.

88 is the cruise ship at the upper left corner of the satellite picture. At the bottom image, two of the 052Ds have departed from the fitting area.

I think 88 was temporary relocated to make room for the 2nd carrier to be pull out of the dry dock and CV 16 to take its place.

I thought that might have been a reason but...

It was entirely possible for the cruise ship to be moved aside without complete relocation to another part of the city so it won't block the carrier from moving into the dock.

Why does the PLAN have the barracks ship as a companion with the carrier?
If it is a permanent component of the carrier group, why does the vessel not have any defensive weapons?
