Deino you don't appear to follow the US Military, so FYI there're some projects, called gamechangers
(the Fords, the Zumwalt-class destroyers, Littoral Combat Ships, F-35s),
which are grossly delayed and over budget (but are 'too big to fail' so won't get cancelled) and have dubious (sometimes laughable) performance;
what the Pentagon does is rushing them into service

Pardon, but I do not get your point????!!!

I don't want to discuss other countries projects and their performances, issues, delays or whatever, my point was simply that this report is pure BS:

To announce the new carrier completed all its tests within one single cruise and will be handed over to the PLAN is simply laughable and proof for the author's incompetence..

That's all,

I know of only one ship that completed her sea trials this quickly, you may have heard of her, an ocean liner built over a hundred years ago. RMS Titanic...11_titanicb.jpg And we all know how well that worked out...

Sea Trials for the new carrier are not over. Prattling and ignorant journalists are hardly authoritative sources, no matter who they are 'quoting' form with Government.

"Queen Elizabeth sailed on 26 June 2017 to undergo sea trials." [her first]
and
Commissioned: 7 December 2017

so my point has been by the current Western standards it doesn't sound outlandish what you apparently didn't like:
"It would take another six months to one year before the ship is delivered to the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy ..."
in the article linked

especially when that sentence goes on as
... Song said, while noting "we don't need to rush it because the more tests it takes now the better it performs later."

time will tell the rest

Ok ... there's always something one can learn, however I still rate this report not reliable and my feeling tells me that the author indeed meant entering PLAN service = entering operation service, something that not even one of the carriers you mentioned was at the time of "commissioning".

Best,

Pardon, ... but that cannot be!

The carrier just completed its first sea trails so said its maiden voyage. It was never ever tested so that all tests could have been completed.
There were no aircraft tests, surely no long distance cruise and so on.

Also how could this ship be delivered to the Navy already by year's end if not all tests were accomplished.
No carrier was ever delivered within such a short time after its first cruise.

IMO a very bad report put together from a writer who has barely a clue on that topic.
Pardon me, but I failed to find the statement in the article that you accused being "exaggerating". As I understand, you were accusing the "year end". But the article said "It would take another six months to one year before the ship is delivered to the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy". While six months is year end and it is very optimistic or "exaggerating", but one year is nothing to be surprised, isn't it? After all Liaoning took 13 months from first sea trail in August 2011 to be handed over to PLAN in September 2012. This CV being a "copy" of Liaoning with minimum change to its hull should take less than that of Liaoning.

I agree that Global times is sometimes "over" exciting about China's achievement, but I believe every article should be treated for what it says, not for where it is published.

You and @Jura were right and I need to apologize to @JsCh ! Sorry ... I mixed that report with that one.....

China’s first domestically-built aircraft carrier completes sea trials

China's first domestically built aircraft carrier sets out to sea near the Dalian Shipyard in Liaoning province on May 13 for its first sea trial. The first sea trial mainly focused on testing the reliability and stability of the ship's power systems.

China’s first domestically-built aircraft carrier has completed all sea trials successfully, Hu Wenming, chairman of the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC), said on June 19, ThePaper.cn reported.

The ship set out and began sea trials ahead of schedule, completing all trials in advance of its delivery to the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy. Experts predict it will arrive with the PLA before the end of the year.

The CSIC has made major headway in manufacturing new equipment and applying new technologies; the quality of all key projects is under control and all work is proceeding in an orderly manner, Hu disclosed.

The ship is China's second aircraft carrier after the Liaoning, and its construction began in 2013. It set out to sea near the Dalian Shipyard in Liaoning province on May 13, 2018.

Sorry guys.

titanic sinking has nothing to do with engineering or duration of trial It hit and iceberg. You can blame the carelessness of the crew

Deino:

I see you said below you had confused articles, anyway want to comment on what you called commissioning in quotes:

for some time I have being questioning the current combat value of the Ford and the QE (the reasons would be off topic here, well one of them is the QE still doesn't operate fixed-wing aircraft), and from what I figured from posts defending "commissioning" in
Aircraft Carriers III
the argument (of the defenders! LOL not mine) is those ships would even now could go to war (I think this would mean just transporting aircraft, troops, supplies etc.)

I'm not going to post about this topic in
Type 001A (CV-17 Shandong) Aircraft Carrier News & Discussions
any more

Has anyone posted any articles detailing other sea trials other than those first trials that occurred ostarting on May 13th?

I had not seen any, and was wondering how then, unless they have occurred, that the now carrier could now have "completed all of her sea trials."

The one report I saw indicated she had completed her first sea trials which would have been builders trials, and that:

"The first sea trial mainly focused on testing the reliability and stability of the ship's power systems."

As we all know, there are many, many other systems that need testing, callibration, and checking out in addition to th power system.
