look there:
"Type 001 Aircraft Carrier (001型航空母舰)."

'cause the officially confirmed 002 designation didn't difference between Project (Ship, Carrier) 002 (002号) or Type 002 (002型).
So this could mean both or only one of them.
.
And... somehow you still think fan made Type-001A is better than either Type-002 or Carrier-002 or simply 002?
Mate, I really don’t understand your logic here.
Let me give another example. Before Ferrari LaFerrari was “officially” introduced. Petrolheads around the world was told the new car celeberates Ferrari’s 70th anniversary would be called something like “La Ferrari”. But, no one knew at that time how the full name of that car should be constructed as there seems to be too many “Ferrari”s in its name. Guess what? No one called it Farreri F70, instead everyone called it La Ferrari until Ferrari officially confirmed its name being “Ferrari LaFerrari”...
You see by anyone’s logic that car should’ve been named Ferrari F70 like the previouse F40 and F50. But, since Ferrari had never mentioned such designation (logical one YES), people respected that. Thus, it was simply called its incomplete name of La Ferrari which was leaked deliberately by Ferrari till the day it’s full name was announced.
Back to the name of this China’s 2nd carrier. Truces are:
1. Anything+001A was never confirmed by Chinese officials. It was made up by fans from the beginning to the end.
2. The number designation of 002 has been confirmed serval times by the officials. However what+002 hasn’t been confirmed.
So, choice is Sinodefnceforum’s. Either use something has never been confirmed by the officials or use something has been confirms many time but just incomplete in its full name.
