But from what I read it is clearly NOT a project designation but indeed Type.
Via CDF:
A few months ago - and this was also noticed by Odeosoldier - pop3 said CV-17 never had a 'type' designation so we know for sure that CV-17 was, and likely still is, referred to as "Project 002 Domestically-built Carrier".
However, pop3 did not clarify whether the CV-17 later got a 'type' designation. Thus, for all we know, the CV-17
might simultaneously be Project 002
and Type 002, similar to AFVs which are given an industrial designation like WZ-123 and later an in-service military designation like Type 99 MBT.
If we want to be 100% correct, then the thread should be changed to "Project 002" because that's completely 100% confirmed. Whether we should add "Type 002" is completely up to you. The designation
could exist but we can't be sure.
Global times wrote TYPE 001 A
and the
Global Times ( 環球時報 / 环球时报,
Huánqiú Shíbào) is protected by Renmin Ribao - so we should stay at the semi-official Type 001 A.
Definitely not. The Global Times exist solely as a tabloid for ultra-nationalists to vent steam. Its statements should not be taken as anything remotely authoritative unless they're referencing another more reliable source.
