Yeah, and 'sunlight dock' is when a ship stays in a dock in the sunlight. The ship stays in the sunlight (direct or reflected) when docked to it. That's correct definition I suppose.

Stop it here.

the slight deck expansion in the aft would allow for at least 2 more J-15s parked on deck. Including the somewhat smaller island, I would say be could expect 4 more J-15s on deck, while runway and landing strip is clear.

From previous photos, we count 13 J-15s on the Liaoning Deck at that configuration. Now, this number would be 17. This is pretty good, as these 17 J-15s would be in a state of high-readiness, since they are already armed and prepped for immediate launch.

This deck expansion alone would mean that the Shandong could assemble a larger CAP flight in short time and hence improve fleet air defense significantly.

CAP(Captive Air Patrol) without a dedicated AEW aircraft is well..not good. Some time in the near future the PLAN needs to put in service a dedicated fixed wing AEW aircraft. And I know one is in development. We have yet to see it in any sort of R&D flight/etc...

I don't think so. If this deck could hold even a single additional J-15 compared to CV-16 I would be surprised. The additional deck space afforded by the smaller island may be enough for only an additional helo, and the deletion of the Kinzhal launchers in the back and adding their floor area will be insufficient to add another J-15.
