The point is they don't have to and shouldn't, but since this was CCTV America they made the effort.

Cultural influence means you stick to cultural, customs and traditions. In fact "Cultural Influence" is the last battle front for the PRC before it can be truly called a superpower and the very reason why Beijing is buying up Hollywood studios and US cinema chains ! I wouldn't be at all surprised that the PLAN will develop "Carrier Operations with Chinese Characteristics" like with all the weapons systems they developed !

More often than not, they do. Remember Belenko(famous MiG-25 defector, eho brought first information about Foxhound to the west)
Carrier pilots in smaller carrier navies probably more so, since they're far more likely to be consulted directly.
Still, they will never say anything unapproved.
P.s. don't find idea of Liaoning operating new fighter unlikely. It isn't that hard to do if required, and two combat-capable decks (Liaoning and her half-sister) are certainly worth it.

Perhaps Liaoning can be used to train the J-XY pilots, but I really doubt they will make up her future air complement since the jets are much better exploited and utilized on a vessel without the room and takeoff/launch limitations of the Liaoning.
Also, if this is indeed a "controlled leak" as you are implying, it could be a signal that the J-XY isn't all that far away from reality.
Well, j-15 is much larger, so probably it suffers more from the same problems.
And IMHO, it shall be the other way around: what certain planes give to carrier wing, not how much it allows certain plane to achieve its full potential(if it can fly properly, of course, but I'm almost certain it will).
Stealthy air superiority/strike aircraft not only is a great addition to a mix, it probably will allow for a much more flexible and convenient deck operations.
J-15s are just huge.
of course they do? pilots are always looking forward to their next ride, and giving input and observations if they fly for any kind of Air Force!
