Supply ships are away from the formation most of the time. They only join during supply times and for photo ops.It seems the supply ship has left the formation. RC-135V also busy monitoring the carrier formation
Why? Don’t they need protection? And cant they also provide physical protection to the carrier?Supply ships are away from the formation most of the time. They only join during supply times and for photo ops.
They are protected, for example by a frigate or a destroyer. And they're staying well behind the carrier formation from the direction of attack, protecting themselves through the distance. Why? Don’t they need protection?
Very slick video. I was watching a similar promo for the Indian Navy
It must be the aircraft type. Videos on board the Admiral Kuznetsov also show that jet deflectors are raised behind the Su-25 and Su-33, but not behind the MiG-29.... and noticed that the Indians do not use blast deflectors when launching their fighters from the INS Vikramaditya.
The apparent lack of jet blast deflectors on the INS Vikramaditya has been noted ever since its commissioning. The explanation for its absence on the back launch position is reasonable - jet stream will just face towards the edge and the sea. But the lack of one on the forward short launch position is puzzling - there is definitely enough room for one, and it would have pretty big benefits if the position is used regularly. One explanation on the Indian defence forum is that it is more of an emergency position and not to be normally used. That said, I haven't seen any recent info on whether JBD has been installed - could very well be the case.Very slick video. I was watching a similar promo for the Indian Navy
