Two-thirds of Japanese people don’t believe the Tokyo Olympics can be held safely during the Covid-19 pandemic, a new poll has shown. Infections were recorded in the Olympic Village just days before the games are set to begin.
In the poll by the Asahi Shimbun newspaper, 68% of respondents expressed doubt that organizers can ensure “safe and secure” games, with 55% saying they were opposed to the major sport event going ahead, as compared to 33% who were in favor of the games.
The news comes after two South African athletes and a video analyst tested positive for Covid-19 in the Olympic Village on Sunday.
Sinovac does seem to be working in South America at the moment, but it's looking like it has issues with Delta (like AstraZeneca).
I wonder if the Duerte's Sinopharm choice was an indirect vote of confidence elsewhere.
Problem is the need to bend over backwards to get people accommodating a third dose of any vaccine after saying only the "crappy" Chinese vaccines need a third dose. Reap what you sow...
Hungary will likely go ahead with mixing all kinds of vaccines for boosters, interesting experiment. I don't think there are any other countries that have used all of Sinopharm, Sputnik, AZ, Pfizer, J&J, and Moderna. Maybe Mexico?
For me, and I have zero-medical background... my thinking was that maybe the mRNA vaccine could boost response to that particular target, and inactivated virus might have some sort of more "broad spectrum" response against something like a new variant.
Of note for other readers, although western media is lumping Sinovac and Sinopharm exports as "vaccine diplomacy", Sinovac is a private company (wanted to list on NASDAQ) and most of its exports are commercial sales. Sinopharm is SOE and the exports are mixed amongst donations and sales.

You can't interpret 1.45 billion that way. Lots of Chinese have taken two doses. The figure 1.45 billion is the total dosage administered including the fully vaccinated people, therefor the number of people who has received at least one dose is less than that.All citizens in China has received at least one dose empirically.
Are they still administering at the speed of 20 million doses per day?
