I would be careful with the interpretation. He is only stating that the current pandemic worldwide is caused by the "G" variant of COVID, which originated in northern Italy. This strain is more contagious than the inital variant found in Wuhan.
But as stated above, you can not hold China responsible for the incapability of western decision makers.
Yes, I've heard interpretations that the Italy variant stemmed from Wuhan, and vice-versa, and I'm not a microbiology expert so I wouldn't know for sure. The doctor mentioned that "fundamentally, the global pandemic did not start in Wuhan", which I thought was his assertion that Wuhan was a variant that came from Italy. Can someone enlighten?
Or to put it another way: if you are looking for someone to blame, you are not up to the task.
I agree; I think this whole witch hunt nonsense over blaming and suing certain countries for reparations is preposterous. On the other hand, tracking sources helps us better understand the ecological conditions that spawn more pandemics in the future. For example, certain wildlife poaching and eating habits, or environmental degradation, or just plain natural bird migratory patterns.
