Coronavirus 2019-2020 thread (no unsubstantiated rumours!)

Yes, I think I remembered it as well, in fact, someone from this forum also suggested as much, saying that wearing mask would not completely eliminate the possibility of contracting the virus.

I don't think anyone of us were saying that masks would give us complete safety, but this is a game of percentages, isn't it? And multiply this by having everyone wear one in public, when available and affordable. That's the difference between the pandemic in most East & Southeast Asian countries and the west.

LOL. Some of them were saying wearing mask is dangerous because ordinary people are too dumb and do not know how to wear mask and unmask properly.

Lieutenant General
Trump announced US withdrawal from the WHO on 29MAY2020, a week later, on 06JUN2020, the WHO changes its advice on face masks.

Given the revelations just breaking about how the US was lying to it’s population about the usefulness of face masks because of its inability to supply even its own frontline medical workers, one really have to wonder just how much the US influenced the WHO’s face mask guidance up to when they announced their withdrawal, and how many lies that has, and is continuing to code around the world.

Sadly we will likely never know, as this is a story the western MSM will not pursue.

What is the CDC guideline?
Does the CDC guideline state anyone with Coronavirus, should go out their daily lives and should wear a mask only when they are within 6 feet?
This is a total retard guideline or Congressman Tom Rice is the retard. Which is it? Either way, the guideline is either faulty or is not being properly disseminated.

Rep. Tom Rice, a South Carolina Republican, announced on Monday that he, his wife, and his son had been infected with the coronavirus. But just two weeks ago, Rice appeared on the House floor in Washington without a face covering.

reporter Manu Raju asked Rice why he wasn't wearing a mask in the chamber on May 28, the congressman said he could maintain at least 6 feet of distance from everyone on the floor and in the halls of the Capitol and therefore didn't need to wear a mask. COVID-19 can spread even from asymptomatic carriers.

"I do wear it sometimes on the floor," he told Raju in May. "I make an effort to ... stay 6 feet away from folks in accordance with guidelines. And when I'm forced into a situation where I can't do that — like on a plane — I do wear a mask."

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends everyone wear a cloth face covering when they cannot maintain at least 6 feet of distance from others.

Shameless. I hope this congressman should reflect that his own actions may have infected both his wife and son.

Nice infographic on the situation in Beijin so far:
View attachment 61015

Translation of the main points:
- total of 106 cases from 6/11 - 6/15
- 62 cases had direct link via Xinfadi market
- Horizontal bar graph is the age distribution
- Most cases (80 out of 106) came from one single district, which is now considered to be a high risk area

Guys, knowing the news about this coronavirus thing, how seriously do you take the disease? I personally feel I keep swinging between "this is serious stuff" and "out of sight, out of mind" mentality.

Well, my way of dealing with the coronavirus is this: "out of sight, out of mind" when I go about my everyday business. "This is serious stuff!!!" when I am dealing with potential exposure.

What I mean is that I have stopped keeping track of the statistics and news about the coronavirus. I am assuming that this virus is a part of my everyday life by now. I work, eat and do other things like nothing has happened. I have stopped worrying about it. In fact, even at the height of the whole pandemic, I have never been on top of all the news about it. Even in March and April, I only watched news about the pandemic once or twice a day. This is of course very different from my wife who has been spending every available moment keeping track of every news and every statistics about the pandemic.

On the other hand, I do not cut any corners when it comes to disinfecting. When I come back home from work, I wash my hands, arms and face thoroughly before taking a good and hot shower. I clean my mouth with mouthwash. I disinfect everything coming into my house at least twice, and leave them untouched for as long as possible. I assume everything coming into my house as contaminated.

However, once I have cleaned everything, I stop worrying about them. I never worry about what happens when I get it. My thinking is that I will do everything in my power to prevent infection. If I still get infected, well, it's out of my hands. It's always been my philosophy. I do everything in my power to perfect the things that I can control, but never worry about the things out of my control.

So I guess I mentally ignore the virus, but tactically take this virus very seriously.

Good for you. I'll take note. Btw Thanks for the sharing. To be honest everything seems normal, other than the masks and the "stay the F*ck away from me" kneejerk reaction whenever a stranger gets too close. But I suppose things are different for those who personally know those infected/ are infected themselves.
