The Cambridge genetic mapping analysis was interpreted by some as China being the source of Covid-19. The analysis is a bit cumbersome and technical, and lead to misinterpretations by many.

The article quoted by Jura also mentioned that China has converted an office building in Suifenhe, Heilongjiang, into a 600 bed hospital for Covid-19 to be staffed by 400 doctors and nurses (probably flown in from other parts of China). The conversion took a week and the hospital was scheduled for opening yesterday (Saturday).

Suifenhe is located at the border with Russia and just 120 miles from Vladivostok. Russia suspended all international flights on March 27. Many Chinese citizens trapped in Russia flew to Vladivostok and then enter China at Suifenhe. Suifenhe is now under lock down.

This shows how proactive China is fighting the Covid-19, and why China's infection and death toll numbers are so low compared with other countries.

On April 12, excluding Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, there are 98 imported and 10 domestic new cases. There are 61 new asymptomatic patients. There 6 new suspected cases, all imported. There are 2 deaths nationwide. There are 77,663 cured cases and 1,156 existing cases.

It's from CNN, take it with a grain of salt. While yes there has been racism against foreigners during this time. It's nowhere as bad as CNN shows. From what I've heard of those living there, the authority is being questioned on their lack of action against this. This is when the government should start putting more control over the place to prevent more instability.

If you read the article you will notice that they have provided lots of details. Anyway if this is wrong then Chinese government should openly accuse CNN. Just saying that it's false will not do any good. Moreover, the article mentioned that though the Chinese spokesperson clearly had mentioned that 90% of imported cases are of people with Chinese passports the local authorities seemed to target the African people. It may very well be a mess-up by the local government just as it was by the Wuhan government. Anyway, racism should never be tolerated no matter how you put it, and it's the task of the Central government to ensure that such actions are not repeated and offenders are punished.
