latest rumor is that Shanghai is back on lockdown? Anyone have confirming information? Sounds like they had over a 100 positive cases in the last day or two.

Unless, Shanghai is totally incompetent. I don't see the need for a lockdown. It just needs to do a partial blocks or communities lockdown to stamp out the virus. Beijing has much worst and didn't enact a full lockdown. Shenzhen and Guangzhou have been stamping out virus without much of disruptions by simply mass testings.

Wechat message from friends living in shanghai, they were apparently informed by their neighborhood watch. Could be a localized lockdown.

The positive rate in the 5 boroughs of the New York City is greater than 25% now and they are now declared high risk areas.

SARS-CoV-2 is pretty much the 5th endemic common cold coronavirus by now. These intramuscular injected vaccines do little to prevent infection.

Beijing has ditched a proposed vaccination mandate that would have limited access to its public places to jabbed residents only, the city announced on Thursday, citing public pushback. The Chinese capital had only announced the rule on Wednesday.

Instead of requiring vaccination, Beijing residents can now enter all public venues with a negative Covid test result taken less than 72 hours ago and a temperature check, a city official told state media, adding that the government would continue to promote vaccination on a voluntary informed-consent basis.

Honestly, vaccination or negative covid test taken less than 48 hours would be enough to deflate public pushback

When are they going back to normal like in other countries? How is the vaccination rates progressing in China?

Doubtful anytime soon, I would say maybe early next spring. Vaccination rate is almost 90%. However, for people over 80, it is only somewhat over 50%.
