Shanghai's case must be so mind-boggling and super anti-copium to those haters of China Covid Zero in the West.
Looks like their hopium Omicron variant didn't do what they had hoped in China i.e. millions of people dying and, in their view, the only viable outcome and most humane possible for the sake of human rights and freedom from lockdowns.
No joke, just recently, Bloomberg even reported that Shanghai was reversing back to lockdowns with millions of people affected.
It's unclear if Beijing has the authority to do that anyways even if they wanted to pursue this type of strategy.
It's a really hard sell. Whoever pitches the idea would get crucified.

But you dont need vaccine in Germany for travel, but with sinopharm you are effectively unvaccinated according to EU law.

Whoever approved the moderna and Pfizer vaccines for vaccine passport in China is an idiot at best and a saboteur at worst. Countries with millions of deaths even after fully vaccinating claim to have effective vaccines and even the audacity to badmouth proven to function vaccines in the same breath.
If it was that regulator's own parents and grandparents who were told to take 2 Pfizer shots and then go coexist with COVID in USA then I bet that regulator wouldn't agree to something as stupid and humiliating as taking lying nations' word at face value.
Yet no consequences, and maybe a fat kickback from some western medical industry oligarch to put the rubber stamp on and open China's gates to the omicron infected, oh but trust, they're triple vaccined by an US govt aligned company! Defintely not a country with a history of defect snake oil and inferior, shoddy healthcare. The new strategy is working well in Shanghai!
They should only have accepted Western vaccines after independent observers were able to inspect the results in Western countries and verify they can indeed prevent outbreak to the same standards as requested by the government.

Don't you still need to quarantine for two weeks in a hotel?
Two weeks should be more than enough to test positive on a covid test if you're asymptomatic?
