Yup. Heard podcast by a doctor actually few years ago that trained dogs can sniff out certain form of cancers cuz the very slight odor emitted is detected by sensitive nose of dogs.
Googled this again today and they have afew articles on this. Guess it's just not practical as you said. Or else would be a good screening tool lol

Yeah, the cost of dog training for any health issue is a big factor. For the blind, you can go through multiple dogs in a lifetime, so it’s not cheap. The expense is so much so that people developed guide miniature horse which live much longer. Even though the cost to take care of a horse is much more, even a small one (about the size of a big dog), still less TCO than multiple dogs.
Actually recognized by the US Federal government as a service animal, so allowed on planes.
I feel like robotic quadrupeds would make much cheaper and reliable guide animals.

Same to you din @ansy1968 it'll get better soon enough. Just as long the tipaklongs a.k.a. Americans and Taiwanese separatist don't push China to conduct or take military action then the rebound in the South East Asian region including the Philippines is going to be there.
