Shipping crises caused by China closing ports for coronavirus is reaching a fever pitch and might actually cause a deflationary crises across the world before the year ends.

Is there an actual plan behind these shutdowns, or is the PRC ran by loonies that believe even a single case warrants a lockdown? I don't see a reason for jeopardizing the global supply chains that are China's only leverage over the world
China leverage is its nuclear arsenal, its powerful military, its status as the world number two superpower. Otherwise, we would have eight armies alliance knocking down the gate to Beijing as of now.

As for Chinese zero tolerance policies against covid, I don't know where have you been. China has employed such tactics for over a year and half now. And China is doing comparative better than all SEA nations and Vietnam and India as the strongest link of the global supply chains.

I firmly believe that if western countries led and dictated by their corporate overlords had at least invested into making an inactivated vaccine for Covid-19 that some of the vaccine hesitancy that's been plaguing almost all western holier than thou countries would have been severely curtailed. Instead, the all-knowing-all-powerful corporate entities dictated to their political servants that MRnA technology is the way to go because there's frankly more to be made from utilizing this relatively new tech and the potential windfall and breakthroughs that'll come out as a result of the massive lab testing that's done to bazillions of people in the world over. Which also explains why Pfizer has made countries to sign a provision exempting itself from any possible liabilities from any and every potential side effects now or in the future from the vaccine.

I f..ng wish that Canada was not led by a dumb virtue signaling mother f..ker so that most of the friends I have there and pretty much to the people in that country would have more variety and real choices of vaccines available to them to use.

I don't think it would be fully curtailed, but I mean it could be the a extra few thousand? few million? In any case, I do agree it's totally unhelpful to create this sense of distrust because as we can see from the flow of misinformation things easily go from "Chinese vaccines are useless" to "... vaccines are useless" and it blows back in your face.

The funny thing about the current PM is his father is widely admired by immigrants as he was the one in power when many of the restrictions against non-white European immigration were lifted. His father is also seen as the opposite of virtue signaling by the way he super pissed off the United States with regards to Vietnam and dealing with draft dodgers, engaging with Castro, and domestically with the handling of the Quebec terrorists.

History aside, there is a curious divergence between the federal and the Ontario provincial stance on vaccines. To avoid quarantine, you must have had a HEALTH CANADA approved vaccine (Pfizer, Moderna, AZ, or J&J/Janssen even though it was never used here). However, the province has already given the greenlight to accept any WHO approved vaccine to count a person as fully vaccinated (essentially just Sinovac and Sinopharm additionally). For international students, the issue is problematic for Indians (many of which were inoculated with Covaxin. Covaxin's approval has been delayed at least 2 months now). Also some of the Eastern European (and others) people who may have received Sputnik V.

The Conservatives are the right wing party, which stated that they will side with India and deal with China.
