If this guy did all these things with the full knowledge of his diagnosis, he should be prosecuted to the fullest extent in a felony court. If someone dies, it should be at least a manslaughter charge.

Thanks! In this case he should be penalized legally, and more importantly, the case should be publicized in order to spread public awareness and deter other people from making the same mistake. I really hope the government has been keeping of track of people attempting to resist/avoid quarantine, concealing symptoms/illness, escaping from quarantined areas, violating travel bans, and other such actions that facilitated the spread of the disease. None of these selfish people that acted with so little disregard for the health and safety of others should be permitted to escape the legal consequences of their actions. Particularly, people that intentionally infected others (spitting on handrails and doorknobs, or purposefully infecting medical workers due to anger/frustration), must receive the most severe penalties.

He likely didn't know about his diagnosis until he returned to work, but the fact that he was visiting friends and attending gatherings during the quarantine period, *and* returning to work without any isolation period, shows that he simply didn't give a crap.
It just pisses me off that while the entire country is working hard to fight the epidemic, there are still some selfish idiots who think this doesn't concern them and ends up putting other people at risk!
It's a combination of ignorance and arrogance. Human pitfalls sadly.
The party needs to take responsibility though for their timing of the quarantine and announcements. People don't get to see relatives and friends very often.

Public awareness needs to be increased, so people understand the importance and seriousness of the matter. Perhaps there are many people thinking along the lines of, "Hey, I just have a cough, its probably a cold. I can't be so unfortunate as to have gotten the virus!" Unfortunately, such a mentality leads to behavior that directly facilitates the spread of the virus. Hence, cases such as this needs to be publicized, and offenders need to be punished appropriately. In this case, I would think the guy should be punished with public shaming, a large fine + possibly short jail sentence, and be made legally liable for any deaths that may occur among the people he infected (liable as in liable to pay compensation, not stand trial for murder).

Senator Tom Cotton made a comment that the US should let the Chinese government catch the coronavirus. Like the US is in control of that? Was he assuming that Americans were playing a significant role in battling the coronavirus there where the US should leave and let the Chinese feebly handle the virus themselves? Then the other day the US is complaining that China has not accepted any offer of help from the US to send doctors to help contain the coronavirus. Then there was a story from the media that the Chinese people are protesting their government's handling of this crisis. A liberal pointed that out to me because when Americans do that, they're actually saying the Chinese government has failed and therefore must now adopt Western standards and let the West control China because the Chinese are incapable of taking care of themselves. It always comes back to that. I told this liberal that story was odd because if Chinese citizens were complaining then why don't they start with themselves by not eating these wild animals that unleashed this virus in the first place? The liberal I was telling that to was also an animals rights activist. He didn't see that coming because all he saw was an opportunity to bash China. Even an animal rights activist will rather believe a lie in opportunity to bash China than to criticize Chinese eating animals Westerners find abhorrent. He conveniently forgot his own supposed animals rights values and shut up immediately afterwards.
