My pet theory is that the new strains from Britain and India are more heat resistant, taking away their geographical advantage. Even states like Malaysia and Indonesia which didn’t implement strict lockdowns did well last year.
Taipei might have also drunk its own "National Warm Power" Kool Aid.

Protip: Never believe your own propaganda, especially propaganda produced for foreign audiences.

Shit's getting serious in Wanwanland.... hospitals are overflowing with the sick, patients being treated in car parks, while the power stoppage from last week has yet to be solved fully, with 30% of the island in the dark, Kaohsiung being hit hardest (or darkest).

All this is from social media and whatsapp from folks crying for help, none of this will make the news of course, where the official line is everything's fine and Tsai has shit under control.

Last year when China experienced blackout around Australian coal embargo, media didn't stop talk shit about that. Now no media talk about this, remember that Taiwan bragged that majority of western journalists moved from mainland to Taiwan. Maybe @Skywatcher is correct, they drunk on their own propaganda.
If DPP ever ruled SG, SG would just stay as a backwater port or chewed by Malaysia and Indonesia.

I'm posting a "news" from a very peculiar-yet-amusing thread in a different forum.

Days after India Today TV reported that Covid patients were being treated in a crumbling building in Bihar’s Darbhanga, the hospital authorities shifted the patients to a safer location.

Is that even a covid ward? Looks more orthopaedic to me. Even by third world standards there's a complete lack of PPE, no sign of any ventilation equipment.

I'm trying to avoid hearing about the situation in India, it's depressing to hear about humans treated so badly.

I'm surprised that building looked like orthopaedic to you. I wouldn't even call these hospitals.

Mud huts in the poorest parts of the world are safer and comfortable than this. No wonder they are getting mucormycosis as the humidity and dilapidated building provides fertile for fungal spores to propagate.

As for Indians and their plight, Its better all get desensitized to this. Indians themselves s don't seem to care so why should non Indians be?
