This explain why so many US second hand and junk cars come to Cambodia. You know a Toyota Camry XLE series 2002 can sell at $18,000 after repair in Cambodia. Some even upgrade them to 2005 standard.

$18,000 for an '02 Camry? Wow...I assume that's US dollars..

In San Diego CA let's see what sort of Camry you can get with $18,000.

I see in the above posts, you guys compare lives in US and China. Maybe you can compare Cambodia's lives and yours. First, let me clarify something, we, in Cambodia, use US dollars just as you do in the US except that we don't accept coins which are smaller than one dollar. A cousin of mine who lives in California recently bought a Toyota Camry 2010 something around $15,000. You know what? a brand Toyota Camry made in Japan costs $65,000 in Cambodia.

Junk cars from the US originally cost just a few thousand, transportation cost another $2,500 each. Import duties + VAT cost more than 150% (which they always translate into a fixed cost). All together boot up the price of the car. Cars in Cambodia are very expensive!

It's always good to know someone who knows computers. Everytime I had a problem with my computer that I couldn't fix, I took it my friend. If I took it to the store where I bought it, I would've had to wait a couple weeks for something might take an hour at most and as simple as replacing a part and charge me a $100 for the labor alone.

I had a Toyota for like a decade. I had to take it in for a smog check and had done my research before. So I turned it in to a little Japanese women at the Toyota dealer. So later she calls me with her meek little voice and tells me I didn't pass the smog test and it would cost $1600 to fix. I storm over to the shop and start yelling at this little woman and her innocent act. She must've thought I was dumb. Because I did my research, I knew if I didn't pass smog, the shop could only charge me something like $300-$400 in repairs in attempt to get it to pass. If not I take to a California state service site where they will check and give me a pass. This was the end of the day where everyone is picking up their car and I make a scene saying out loud how they're violating the law. Management too thinks I'm stupid and tries tricks like if I don't pay, their workers don't get paid. I yell out, "I don't give a crap about your criminal workers that are part of this criminal scheme to rip off people trying to get their car fixed in your shop. If you're paying them like a sweat shop, you're violating the law there too. They didn't do any work on my car because I haven't okayed for the work to be done." Then I started yelling out the smog check rules and regulations. They want me out of their shop because every customer is watching. So they came down to say I just had to pay for a smog check which was around like $20 after how they said they replaced this and that without my permission in the first place. And I was thinking that was good because if they're charging me for a smog check, they have to give me the diagnostic report to see if I failed or not. So after a couple of minutes watching everyone whispering to one another. They let me take my car without costing me anything except my time. And what happens is they don't give me a diagnostic report of course because I didn't pay for it. Why? Like I suspected when I took my car to another Toyota dealer, I passed smog without their $1600 in repairs they said I needed.

Fortunately, there is no smog check requirement in Cambodia. It sound like people better use brand-new cars in western countries. Here, we have our vehicle over-all check every two years. They simply drive our cars into they equipment check the braking, balancing and light system (I don't remember all what they check) and it cost about $15 for a four-seat car.

You call that cheap???? We call it unnecessary. My car works fine without that checking and the checking doesn't make anything betting. You know, just check the braking system, the balancing system, light and the counter. You can feel problem of those things by using your car every day.

Overhere a mate of mine bought a couple of Gm 2010 trucks/pickups for $500 with only slight over 100kilometers on the clock thats right its not a mistype 100 kilometers only at auction.. There were over a a dozen of similarly aged vechiles of similar mileage on offer.

The catch was, they were never allowed to be driven ever again as they were used as crash vechiles on the motorway centre crash barrier. He owns the contracting firm that builds those crash barriers and those vechiles. were specially R.C. rigged to crash into barriers on the passenger side , which would have been the drivers side in right hand drive vechiles.
On the opposite there wasnt a scratch.

Hello Guys,

I plan to purchase a new laptop. My criteria is: light weight for mobility (within 2kg), powerful enough for resource thirsty application, and most important; touchscreen. I've been searching the web and found my favorite; the Lenovo X220t convertible tablet. I tried the get quotation from local supplier with the following specs:

LENOVO THINKPAD X220 TABLET
- Intel® Core™ i5-2520M Processor (2.5GHz, 3MB Cache)
- Operating System : Genuine Windows® 7 Professional 64 BIT
- Memory : 4GBX1 DDR3 1333MHz SDRAM
- Hard Disk Drive :500GB (SATA) 7200rpm
- Optical Drive : None
- Display: 12.5" HD, 300 NIT WV (IPS), 2 finger touch/5 finger gesture, Infinity Glass
- Intel® Integrated HD Graphics
- 6-Cell Rechargeable Lithium Ion Battery
- Carrying Bag Notebook

And guess what! the quoted price is US$2,000! Simply too expensive for me!
