COMAC C919

I think some people need to learn that the point of these threads is not “geopolitical reaction to tech news” but “discussion of tech related developments to tech news”.

@Deino, a few years ago, off-topic discussions were usually about technical disagreements, and arguments on all sides were well thought out and logically presented, even if they were off-topic. But now, off-topic discussions are almost always political in nature and incredibly stupid. Fortunately, there are only four or five repeat offenders who are responsible for most derailments. Mods probably should start handing out lengthy or permanent bans just to make the flagship forums readable again. Lengthy bans have proven to work effectively. For example, @Austin Powers has not come back after his lengthy ban.

End off-topic rant.

China's indigenously-developed large passenger plane C919 completed its first low-temperature flight test in North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region on Saturday.

The C919 jet took off from Hulunbuir Dongshan International Airport in the region, and landed at Dongying Shengli Airport in East China's Shandong Province, completing 23 days of tests.

The low-temperature test is an extreme weather flight test that civil aircraft are required to clear-- aimed at testing the functions and performances of the operational systems and equipment of the aircraft, experts said.

During the flight test, 10 aircraft experiments and four ground experiments related to C919 were verified as meeting standards in a low temperature environment of -35C.

To complete the flight test, Hulunbuir Dongshan International Airport worked with related departments and companies including local airport supply and air control department and China National Aviation Fuel Group Limited (CNAF). Hulunbeier Meteorological Service also placed five sets of meteorological monitor equipment to ensure the precisely climate data during the test.

C919 jet is China's first independently developed jumbo plane with own intellectual properties, experts said.

C919 has successfully completed the first certification flight conducted by the Shanghai Certification Center of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).

Is there any reason to censor the cockpit of what's basically a civilian aircraft? Seems like excessive censorship for me.

or self-preservation tendency just in case someone from the top nitpicks on the 'secret' details?
Given the amount of Western sanctioning Chinese companies like COMAC have been faced with, I wouldn't be surprised the blurring/censoring restricts the exposure of the tech/parts used in the C919 to Western parties - you can't sanction someone when you don't know what to sanction.... or something along those lines anyway.

Emmm unlikely, there are already so many official released photos about c919 cockpit on the internet, there is no secret to hide.
In my understanding, these types of photos usually released through some official channel, so...
