Is it certified for international flight yet?
not yet. to be honest they don't even need. coz domestic demands are too much.

COMAC officially applied for EU certification for C919 and application accepted too. i think COMAC working on dual strategy. if they get EU certificate they will able to sale some units outside mainland.

I wonder if any countries in the world outside China will let a plane land without FAA certification or EU certification. The FAA will possibly deny certification for political reasons. Possibly Russia?

A lot of countries in Africa used to buy Russian planes without any FAA or EU certification. So I am pretty sure China could sell there if they wanted to. Probably would get China that closer to US sanctions on the engines though.

Certification for international flight and certification for export to certain markets are two different things. To sell to the US-based airlines, you need FAA certification; to sell EU airlines you need EASA certification. To fly into these countries, the aircraft should only need be certified by your country's aviation authority complying with ICAO guidelines. I post related information some time ago when C919 got its Type Certificate (TC).

So yes, C919 can fly internationally and land in other countries.

Agreed. Indonesia will be operating a fleet of ARJ21 soon. And we know ARJ-21 does not have FAA certification.

I think the first foreign buyer of C919 will also be from South East Asia, the flight frequency between China and South East Asian countries is very high. C919 is the right size air plane for these routes.
