We hear a lot about a "nuclear renaissance" but you can't see it in the data.

Even in China, nuclear is far and away on last place. Renewable energy is really where the action is at. I don't have anything ideological against nuclear, but the hype surrounding a supposed "renaissance" needs to be tempered with facts.
When you get to huge countries like China or India nuclear won't scale to a large fraction of power generation without fast reactor technology. Otherwise you run into uranium fuel resource limitations.

China is already building two CFR-600 fast reactors which should be operational soon if not already. But the technology needs to be improved and scaled up. Russia is supposedly going to build its BN-1200M reactor soon. Russia also has the BREST-OD-300 under construction.

This is something for the 2030s at best.
