At the meeting of the Standing Committee of the State Council, chaired by Chinese Premier Li Qiang, approval was granted for units 3 and 4 at China General Nuclear's (CGN's) existing Taipingling nuclear power plant in Guangdong province, as well as units 1 and 2 at China National Nuclear Corporation's (CNNC's) new Jinqimen nuclear power plant in Zhejiang province.

.

This article claims that a lot of key wind turbine components are still being imported. 60% of bearings, 70% igbts, and 95% of lubricants. It also claims that the majority of carbon fiber is coming from abroad. I would love to see the original Tsinghua report if someone can find it.

Some of the claims seem hard to believe. For example, China is the largest producer of carbon fibre but we are to believe they can't meet this need?

On the bearing side, I believe Liebherr is a big Mingyang supplier but I was under the impression they produce components within China but maybe not roller bearings?

In any case, these likely represent a small portion of the total cost of turbine installations but I would like to know that competitive Chinese alternatives exist.

then why do you take it seriously? There was that recent report of a turbine that sourced 100% Chinese components. I can't remember who the maker is now. It's somewhere in this thread.

in terms of solar, all critical components are sourced domestically.

As for stuff like IGBTs, it's just a matter of increasing domestic production of these chips. There is no technology barriers to them. You might as well blame OEMs for sourcing nuts & buts from oversea suppliers.

this is extremely bad reporting by YicaiGlobal. i didn't expect this. but its okay..

Tsinghua University didn't publish as such report. even if reporter written this article. he is dangerously outdated regarding wind Turbine domestic supply chain. i remember in 2017 there was a report published by local security magazine in which they stated that, China import many core components of wind turbine and to dominate the industry we have to increase research in order to breakthrough. seems like he copy paste that article with current date..

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

on November 10 that Dongfang Electric announced that the 18-megawatt direct-drive offshore wind turbine, developed by China Dongfang Electric Group Co., Ltd. and China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd., with completely independent intellectual property rights..

the key components of the unit, such as blades, generators, converters, and transformers, have been fully localized, promoting the coordinated development and technological progress of the entire wind power industry chain .

They adopt the large-thickness, blunt trailing edge, and high-performance airfoil independently developed by Dongfang Electric. They apply aerodynamic-structure integrated design technology and bending-torsion coupling adaptive reduction. Loading technology, using new carbon fiber pultruded plate materials and new main beam structures, taking into account structural safety and economy.

This model adopts the industry's first domestically produced integrated dual-drive pitch system , which solves the problem of "stuck neck" in key core technologies..

The iPACOM smart system independently developed by Dongfang Electric is the industry's first smart control based on edge computing technology..

CCTV announced in coordination with the company. we have used locally produced software in regards with indigenization. all core components and materials are domestically produced.

on December 13 Mingyang Group’s official Weibo announced, Mingyang Intelligent MySE18.X-20MW offshore wind turbine has been offline.

According to the official introduction, the MySE18.

The unit has realized the localization of all key components including blades, gearboxes, generators, pitch systems, large castings, and control systems.

292 meters in diameter! China has built an offshore wind turbine with the world's largest wind turbine diameter: generating 80 million kilowatt hours a year

This is the offshore unit with the largest single unit capacity and the largest wind turbine diameter that has been offline in the world . Its successful offline is another milestone in the development of China's offshore wind power. It means that China has independent research and development and manufacturing of ultra-large offshore wind turbines and their key components.

as you see Both Dongfang and Mingyang have successfully completed domestic supply chain of large wind turbine.

the breakthrough paragraphs are in bold characters.. thanks
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
another point i want to mention, i have noticed many times even saw. one renowned Chinese expert was talking about Tech breakthrough in front of hundreds of people in conference. man was telling outdated data and information. this has been the case with many top experts. the major reason behind is. they don't have time to check day to day tech breakthrough just like we tech enthusiasts do.. speed of breakthrough in high tech is so fast that even 1 week old news looks outdated in mainland.

Thanks @sunnymaxi I know i was forgetting something!

major deal between Mingyang and Hainan govt here for a major hydrogen production site and wind turbine site

this one is huge

this project expecting to produce 3million tons of green chemical a year (ammonia or methanol I guess)

methanol would be great for international shipping

ammonia could be used to be turned into green fertilizers.

a couple of more large green hydrogen projects

Hainan is looking to build major green hydrogen base that will supply not just hydrogen fuel cars and chemical plants, but also shipping and space.
