Another big project here for 5.2B RMB in Xinjiang for green methanol and aviation fuel

can eventually produce 60k ton of grene methanol, 100k ton of methanol fuel storage and transport capacity as well as 80k ton of green ammonia, 10k ton of aviation kerosene, 10k ton of aviation fuel and 1GW of PVs

demand for a lot of different stuff here

China will meet its 2030 solar and wind goals this year and may double its 2030 target.
China set a target of installing at least 1,200 gigawatts (GW) by the end of the decade, but it is set to surpass that amount in the next couple of months, said Heymi Bahar, a senior analyst at the International Energy Agency (IEA) in an interview with Caixin Thursday.

As of April, the country’s total wind and solar capacity already stood at 1,130 GW, according to an IEA report published earlier this month. Total capacity will hit 1,200 GW this year — six years ahead of schedule — based on its recent trajectory of renewable deployment.
...
The country’s cumulative wind and solar power capacity will “be at least 2,200 gigawatts (GW)” and is “very likely” to reach 2,400 GW by the end of the decade, Huang Zhen, an energy expert and member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said at a solar power conference in Shanghai this week.

China's green energy transition is indeed procceeding at a rapid pace, but that alone won't prepare for climate change since the effects have been present and is getting more intense. Effects such as heavier rain ("once in a century" volume of rain getting more common), sweltering heat, and so on.

Does anyone know of Chinese infrastructure project to mitigate these effect of climate change? I'm not very knowledgeable, I only know of that sponge city project in Zhengzhou that didn't get to be finished before the heavy rain struck a while ago. Could "climate proofing" infrastructure and the public jolt the economy like construction did back then?

I brought this up a few years ago, but IMO China should build a series of east-west canals with interspersed large reservoirs at areas of large elevation change with reversible pump/generators. They would serve a few different purposes. One is flood control, as additional conduits for floodwater. Two is energy storage as water may be pumped in reverse to store renewable energy. Three is as water supply channels as water may be directed to areas that need them, maybe even the desert areas.

just like EDWC, China also has a national project for transporting green fuel from North to south called

and Liaoning's jinzhou port is part of it with this huge project that Envision is helping to build
1.62 million ton of green ammonia transport capacity per year

What's interesting is they already have something for green methanol as part of 北醇南运

Apparently, all the Northeastern provinces are involved in this

this is mind boggling, they want to basically export 29 million ton of green methanol per year by 2030

we have just 800k ton green methanol capacity globally so far, so getting to 32 million ton by 2030 in China is quite significant
