Most gaming in China will likely be done through PCs. Consoles are popular in the west only because of austerity. They provide less capability and less variety in what they can do compared to PC for less money.

With wages in China booming and at the same time new tech products becoming more and more affordable, it's just a question of a few years until top of the line GPUs and CPUs can be sold for cheaper than even western console prices.

There is a market for small-profile, minimally customizable, frequently refreshed (every 3-years), and powerful gaming PCs (APU, soldered ram, one heat sink) similar to the phone model. Microsoft will take Xbox into this route in the West with Windows. As will Valve with Steam.

China can do the same with HarmonyOS, a new propriety game engine without UE's legacy baggage, domestic silicon, and domestic games.

Isn't cloud gaming a more possible future? I tried some and it is quite good for non competitive games

Cloud gaming might not become economically feasible in the foreseeable future since the customer is not subsidizing the cost of computing.

Imo gamepass style subscription service is the future, it's a win-win where consumers get good value and the publishers get a fixed income even when individual games flop. It seems like a good idea to consolidate a bunch of Chinese studios under a single Chinese gaming subscription and allow for all types of games to be made even if individually they may not make financial sense. With the popularity of internet cafes in China this could be lucrative.

I wonder how fun black myth would be played with a vr headset and specialized staff.

Might need to tune difficulty, and also dedicated anti smash room. Maybe they can have it in a special setup at arcade stores. :D

Also how long till someone make small scale remote controlled robot wukong that can twirl a staff.
