The "T" in J15T means "弹射 (tán shè)", i.e. "catapult".After appearance of J15T, there is no certainty that T must be abrreviation for Target, just like after J15DH, H is more than Hai (Sea) or Hong (Bomber). Now H also include Hua for ski ramp take off.
