靶机 means target drone. It's the phrase after the date in Chinese (Jan 5).

Thanks, but actually it makes no sense even more if you look how all other target drones in PLA service look like and why then should it have a weapons bay?

Confusing!!

Hmmm... I've checked some Chinese domestic unofficial media, and there's basically no mention of the “T” standing for “catapult-type”. They either don't mention it, or just say “The naming convention follows the tradition of the CloudShadow series of drones with a T after the number (the first two are the CloudShadow-300T and the CloudShadow-550T), but the problem is that the T in the name of the CloudShadow series of drones is the initial letter of the English word for target drone, ‘target drone’. The problem is that the “T” in the name of the Cloud Shadow series is the initial letter of the English word for target drone, which means that the Cloud Shadow-5000T is a stealth target drone!”

I found the official account of “CCTV Weapon Science and Technology”(兵器科技频道) on the bilibili video website, which is certified by the bilibili organization. In this one, titled “2024 China Aviation 5-ton Cloud Shadow 5000T, as a highly stealthy target drone, isn't it too pity?”(2024中国航展 5吨重的云影5000T,作为高隐身的靶机,是不是太可惜了?)
In the video, the host also said that the “T” means “target drone”. (URL:

These are the best I can find at the moment, I hope this helps!

After appearance of J15T, there is no certainty that T must be abrreviation for Target, just like after J15DH, H is more than Hai (Sea) or Hong (Bomber). Now H also include Hua for ski ramp take off.

Well, I think this sounds more like a translation issue and means not target in the meaning of "shoot down" but the "envisioned" plane even more so since yours on that exhibition is clearly not the same like I posted. IMO yours is a smaller sub-scale demonstrator.
The word “靶” here means “target”.
“靶机” means “target drone”. I think.

Based on the writing on the drone and my estimation of its size, I think it's the Cloud Shadow-5000T you're talking about. It is supposed to be just a model for touring and educational purposes. However, the point is that the account itself states that it is a “target drone”.

It's not uncommon that live weapons are taken into the military under the guise of "target" munitions. There's very little that separates a target missile from a real one anyways.

And in this one that has actual bomb bays (wtf) it's pretty clear it can be used lethally if you want to.

But it's also a very very useful training device. With bomb bays on this flying wing, you can basically simulate a B-21 dropping scores of MALD for example.
