Not remotely surprised by new military developments like these any more. I wonder what it would take to actually surprise me. Gotta blame the J-20 for killing the surprise factor.
You guys need to slow down on your condemnations.
The article is quoting Yang Baokui, which, if you've read the article, is actually the CHINESE vice chairman of CASIC...
So unless the site is fabricating quotations, I think we can assume that this is a case of unintended ignorance by Mr Yang. Everyone knows the Russians practically have no UAV industry.

You'll have to wait for the new stealth bomber.
....
Well it's quite obvious there are some much higher quality photos just waiting to be drip fed out.
Again, waiting waiting.
This development IS actually very surprising and significant, since this is the first chinese aircraft with a tailless design.
This indicates that the chinese software and flight control development significantly matured to enable them to engage in tailless flying wing designs.
All while the apparent scaled-down model for the LiJian UCAV, the small RC model, which still had tails.
This development also could mean that future J-20 variants might feature a tailless design as well, given suitable TVC-capable engines and the solution of other problems that are inherent with supersonic tailless aircrafts.
No sure what it means for future versions of the J-20. For me, the more important development as you suggest is the mastery of the software and tail-less flight controls that will permit long endurance UCAV's to patrol far from the Chinese mainland, which when combined with weapons like the DF-21D ASBM provide a credible buffer well past the first island chain and plausibly the second island chain.
It's truly amazing to see what the Chinese have achieved in such a short space of the time!
