is he serious??
if this spacecraft is similiar to X-35B it should have been launched with a Long March rocket but we know all the payload put in
orbit in 2011.

Well first it should be X-37B not X-35B (innocent typo on huitong's part). And if this test was a sub orbital flight test it would be between the free flight drop (that we saw a few years back from the H-6 mothership) and a fully fledged test in orbit. Soon (a year or so) we may hear of shenlong indeed making a flight in orbit.

Escobar u r correct. I just saw the video posted - it was distinctly captioned as a "UAV". Perhaps it is a matter of transalation from Chinese to English. Regardless of any misinterpretation or hype in this case, China is capable of launching a space craft as I wrote earlier. A 'Long March" rocket was probably used then. Anyway, it is the eve of Chinese New Year & I wish all fellow Chinese commentators & friends & their families "A Happy Lunar New Year". May this "Year of the Dragon" bring good HEALTH, HAPPINESS, WEALTH & PEACE to everyone.

China's 611 Institute should be congratulated on its successful January 2012 launch. China has the capability of developing a space craft like the "Divine Dragon" , & other types too. I witnessed the visit of the First Chinese "Taikonauts" (I believe that's what they are called) when I was in HK in 2006. The Chinese Scientific Team who sent the 4 (if I remember correctly) Taikonauts in a Chinese Craft to outer space for the first time, gave a very impressive video/power point presentation. The Team had young people including a lady. It's great when any country develops its outer space capabilities for peaceful purposes. China is capable of competing with the US, Russia & India in this field. Good luck!

Whattt ? are you comparing China capabilities in this field with Indians ? ... you must be kidding, right ?

antiterror - not wise to underestimate. It's one of Sun Tzu's principles, right? Gong Xi Fa Cai.

Yes but generally when we're comparing China with space powers it's with the US and Russia... India (with other lesser space powers) still trails far behind in many aspects -- not underestimation but measuring achievements and rate of development.

Now China/India comparisons are banned in this forum so let's just leave it at that k

Agreed. Enjoy your reunion dinner. I know I will enjoy mine as my wife is Singaporean Chinese - "Sin Chia Ju Ee" that's Happy CNY in Teochew dialect (now known as Chao-Tse I believe) to you and family.

Escobar, let's hold our horses. China is generally secretive about their launches, but would tell the world if they are sucessful as in 2006, when their space craft with Taikonauts went into orbit. China definitely has a space craft program - how may or what? only the Chinese can inform us if they want to. It's a different society from the West, and culturally Chinese can be quiet UNLESS they are certain of their achievements.
