merica Online recently exposed Mengliao today, the U.S. military a "Global Hawk" Sept. 15 took off from Guam to the U.S. military base in East Asia for the US-ROK military exercise to prepare for the implementation of the mandate, in the southern waters of the DPRK missile suspected to be unknown attacks, crashed in China, the Bohai Bay region. The article said that, according to U.S. intelligence agencies inside information, the missile is likely to be China's air defense missiles hq-10a, because North Korea is now the United States can not afford to lay a high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft, and hq-10a is the hq-10 upgrades, special In order to deal with the U.S. "Global Hawk" and other advanced surveillance aircraft designed. USA Today Online quoted an anonymous U.S. military sources as saying that the implementation of its mandate does not rule out a mechanical failure or electromagnetic interference may be after the crash. U.S. Seventh Fleet in the "Global Hawk" can not get in touch with ten minutes later officially confirmed the news, but the news media, a tight blockade, followed by the US-ROK military exercise held as scheduled.

The article said, was shot down in the "Global Hawk" is the number of Air Force Base in Guam for the yh100 the improved reconnaissance aircraft, crashed in China, the Bohai Bay area locations, the wreckage has been taken away by the Chinese military. Deputy Commander of U.S. Pacific Pili La 16 said the United States Department of Defense has protested to China, asked China to be held responsible, and the return of the crash of the "Global Hawk" debris.

Si Luopu Grumman rq-4a "Global Hawk" is the U.S. Air Force and the world's most advanced UAVs. Prototype first flight in February 1998, in June 2000 a complete "Global Hawk" deployment to Edwards Air Force Base. "Global Hawk" fuselage length of 13.5 meters, 4.62 meters high, a wingspan of 35.4 m, maximum takeoff weight of 11,622 kg. Similar to the Boeing 747 wingspan, so "Global Hawk" is a great UAV. "Global Hawk" on-board fuel over seven tons and a maximum range of up to 25,945 km, autonomous flight time of up to 41 hours, you can complete the transcontinental flight. Away from the launching area in the range 55 56 km event, you can target areas to stay above the 18,288 meters at 24 hours. Flight control system using gps global positioning system and inertial navigation systems, can be done automatically from takeoff to landing of the flight.

Some photos of uav's (from mandrake via CDF):

There's the Yilong (Chinese Predator equivalent) which seems to have had a makeover. Looks kinda like a Reaper now, which I can say is only a good thing. Like the predator it's also equipped with two HJ-10 (or variant) missiles.

There's also the CH-3 uav, which looks to have finally been realized as a real thing not just a concept

It's shown equipped with two small diameter FT-5 bombs. They lack the penetrating power and the range of the American SDB, but two of these on a UAV are still pretty deadly. I hope the PLA get a move on to get the Yilong and/or CH-3 in service soon.... Or maybe sell some to pakistan -- they could use a lot of armed uav's, espicially seeing as the USA aren't willing to sell...

Here's the WJ-600. Wendell Minnick says this one will catch people's attention because a video shows it spotting aircraft carriers. Looks like a cruise missile.

I think the YiLong has flown, but not sure about the CH-3 -- it should've had its first taxi though, that's almost certain. It's unfortunate that they don't give progress on how far they are along with development.

I wonder if it can be launched from ships with a rocket booster. Either they didn't show the landing gear or it was likely to be a one-off thing.

Re: New Chinese UAV

I think those UAV models in air show just are still models, for foreign buyer investment, the real under PLA develop UAV are secret. don't you see " Dark Sword", it exhibited long time ago, but we don't see it any more.
only CH-3, there is a south east asia country buyer want to invest.
I am interesting any chinses strategy UAV under develop like the U.S Global Hawk.

Re: New Chinese UAV

there has been a bunch of articles on Chinese UAVs from Zhuhai airshow. Here are them
Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!

This is talking about Pterodactyl UAV (aka YiLong) by CAC. It mentions that the UAV has payload of 200 kg with the FLIR being 100 kg, which means 50 kg per missile under each wing (KD-10).

It is 9.05 meters long and 2.77 meters high, with a 14 meter wingspan. Maximum takeoff weight is 1,100 kg. Its maximum endurance is 20 hours, with a maximum operating altitude of 5,000 meters. Maximum range is given as 4,000 km. and a maximum speed at 280 km/h.

here is an article from defensenews on it

It mentions the wing flapping ASN-211 UAV which I have attached. It has a take-off weight of only 220 grams with a maximum speed of six-to-10 meters a second and an altitude ranging from 20-200 meters. Which interesting design I would say. It also makes mention of ASN-229A, which seems to be a UCAV also, but is not as capable as YiLong.

It also makes mention of CH-3 and WJ-600 that are already posted here. They seem to both be quite far along (especially CH-3).

Another article is from wsj

It mentions a lot of the same stuff from defensenews article.
