Re: New Chinese UAV

the stealth technology used on the f117 is not applicable today, it is far inferior than what is being used the modern stealth aircraft.

That's what they believe. It doesn't matter if there's any truth to it or if the enemy can learn anything from outdated technology. It's just like Lou Dobbs declaring that China stole US technology that hasn't even been developed yet. How do you steal something that doesn't exist? He made that statement just so in the future the US can claim anything that China does develop that the US hasn't still was stolen from them. So if they have that mentality, they're going to make sure this UAV with all it new steath technology doesn't fall into the hands of someone like the Chinese by not letting it get anywhere near that possiblity of happening.

Yeah, that seems true. Still nobody can accept the J-10 as a domestic project (They stole everything from Israel!), when China's 5th generation fighter takes flight I can guarantee you that no one will give them any credit. They'll assume Russian involvement and blame Chinese spies, or Noshir Gowadia for allegedly transmitting secrets about the B-2 Spirit (because as we all know building a 5th gen stealth fighter is as easy as getting some information about a 20 year old aircraft).

First thing... China don't care what other people thinks. They can think all they want. And... China stole everything from Israel... did Israel's authority said that? Who in the world said that? That is pure nonsense.

Why is it that China came up with something fab and everyone start saying that she stole it from others? For all we know, China is now one of the countries that filed the most patentship, so she is actually slowly moving out from the older model of copying, stealing (if you still want to say that), and stuff like that and went on into innovation and stuff like that.

I'm sorry, but stealing everything from Israel is complete nonsense. Anyone who looks at Lavi and J-10 can see all the differences between the planes. The J-10 project was selected before Israel came in for assistance. The Israelis left in 1995 and the Russians actually helped a little bit with putting in the new engine afterward. No one denies Israel's involvement in the project, but saying that J-10 is Israel's effort is just ignorant. As for no one with give Chinese any credit for 5th gen fighter, well there are a lot of ignorant people out there, but that still does not change the truth.

Just to clarify, I never said I agree with those people, I'm just pointing out the perception that most Westerners have when it comes to J-10, and will have with the 5th gen fighter. Quite frankly reading most Western "analysis" about Chinese hardware pisses me off. It's fine to be skeptical about the Chinese defence industry, it's fine to criticize them when you can back it up, but have some damn respect. No need to adopt this smug attitude like they can never and will never do anything for themselves.

xi'an modern control technology design institute (looks to be part of NORINCO maybe) developed a prototype of a UCAV that successfully launched air to surface missile that hit the target. They signed a contract with CAC to produce the UCAV? Looks like after this successful prototype, they scored a contract with PLA and also an export contract.

Well i wonder who that export customer could be, but my guess is, its Pakistan.

As recently, the Pakistani Defense Production Minister stated that Pakistan is collaborating with China in making an armed UAV capable to launch A2S missiles.

And the rumors of PAC Kamra manufacturing an armed UAV with foreign collaboration have gotten more strong in recent times.

Chinese UAV and strike missiles won export contract

Chinese newspaper reported on 29/01/2010 that Chinese recon/strike UAV package won an export contract. The same day....
