Great looking trainer jet fighter. Wondering what i sthe main reason it is powered by old technology turbojet WP-13 (same as J-7) ... is it cost consideration? .. why not powered by a small tubofan engine like WS-9 ? old technology but mature, domesticated and turbofan

Beautiful aircraft.

Great for training...or could be developed into a light attack aircraft as well.

These small trainers have much much higher potential to be exported than something like the J-31.

J-31 is a poor man's Porshe (at least that's the intended goal for the plane, based on my understanding). Wealthy people don't care about a poor man's version of anything. And poor people can't afford Porshe all together...
