  经过漫长的等待,L-15终于取得正果,不但打开了外销市场,并且还得我国空军的认可,获得了JL-10的编号,可以说前景喜人。

Auto Translation:

After a long wait, L-15 finally made immortal, not only to open up export markets, and have recognized China's Air Force, won the JL-10 number, you can say encouraging prospects.

For those who don't understand Chinese: L-15s aren't and will probably never be immortal. What the original passage meant to say was that the L-15 project achieved success after a long and arduous development process.

Airshow China 2014: Ukraine considers local production of Hongdu L-15
Reuben F Johnson, Zhuhai, China - IHS Jane's Defence Weekly

Ukrainian defence industry representatives at this year's Air Show China have told IHS Jane's that one of the options being discussed for providing an affordable and effective ground attack capability for the country's air force would be to develop a localised variant of the Chinese-made Hongdu L-15 advanced jet trainer/light attack aircraft.

According to this proposed plan, empty L-15 fuselages would be sent to Ukraine from China and fitted out with Ukrainian-produced systems.

"This idea has two practical aspects to it," said a Ukrainian defence industry official. "We have the Ivchenko AI-222-25 engine for this aeroplane that is produced here in Ukraine - the same engine that the Chinese are using in this aircraft - but we also have here in Ukraine the ability to fit our own, non-Chinese avionics, radar, and weapon systems onto this aircraft.

The next photo we're awaiting for is this bird landing on the Liaoning. I just wonder how its small engine can take off from the carrier!

I am waiting on that myself, although if Totoro is correct, and he well may be, good logic and reasoning there totoro, I would be very excited to see that.... in the meantime, this bird is fine for hooking up at the land based training facility?

Who would be paying for this? Ukraine is broke.

They could do a barter trade exchanging engines for Chinese air frames. Engines have higher value than air frames, so there shall be no financial burden on Ukraine.

I understand China is paying for the engines with money. Then it would be paying with air frames. Can Ukraine forego receiving that money?

I doubt it would do much good for them, unless they obtain smart standoff weapons (with what money ? ) . If Su-25s could not survive in that theatre, neither will L-15 if they go low and slow .

if l15 does end up as a light attack ac in ukraine's hands and somehow the whole war is still going on and it sees action and gets shot down repeatedly (which it might, considering all) - that's going to be some bad publicity for l15. Media rarely look into whole context...
